This week we talked about how we all have a BEAST inside of us. Our beasts like to come out when we are having a very powerful emotion. Today, we drew a picture of our beast to make it less scary. LOOK. HOW. CUTE. #SEL#mindfulness#mentalhealth
As a Kindergarten teacher, you receive all kinds of "gifts" from kids. This year, we don't have that opportunity. Except when a little one sneaks you a card. This. This is why we do it. #2020teacher#hereforthekids#stillhuman
We're not allowed to go Trick or Treating. An outdoor event with contact-less candy pickup.
BUT we have to come back to school. To sit in enclosed rooms for hours per day. Without a choice.
Makes sense, right?

Idk what’s more toxic. The mold in my room or the people around me.
I will always teach my kids to advocate. That includes fighting for mental health as well.
What I hope you saw today: us being silly and rubbing our bellies to remember what sound M makes, our friends reaching out to talk to each other over the meet, us dancing while counting to 100, my friends cheering each other on when someone got the right answer.
What you didn't see: me having a breakdown between lessons, not having enough time to eat lunch because of required trainings during the day, holding back tears when saying goodbye at the end of the day thinking about how I will never see these babies in person this year.
Toxic positivity is detrimental to the mental health community. Being realistic in where you are at in your emotions begins the process of healing. Please stop telling people “it will be okay” and meet them where they are at.
It is after midnight and I am still working, grading, and planning. My eyes hurt from staring at a screen for over 15 hours today. It is really hard to turn teaching off and self care when there is SO MUCH TO DO. #remotelearning
