Search for @zerodha on Google or the app stores, and the first thing you'll see is ads from our competitors. The only way for us to show up first is to bid on our own brand keyword. So we'd essentially be paying to be visible when a customer is actively looking for us by name, and if we don't, competitors will happily take that spot.

What's worse is that ads now show up above and below our own keyword. That tells you everything about where platforms are headed.

The only winners here are the app stores who collect the ad spend on top of the commissions they already charge on in-app purchases. And one way or another, this marketing spend eventually flows back to customers in the form of higher prices.

We live in a world where everybody keeps talking about disintermediation, but these platforms are some of the most powerful and profitable gatekeepers in history. They sit in the middle and monetise both sides.

If you believe in the logic of enshittification, this is just the beginning. Platforms extract as much as they can, for as long as they can, until they can't. More ads means more scrolling before you hit any organic results, which means brands that don't pay simply stop being visible. That's manageable if you're a large company with a marketing budget. For smaller businesses and startups it can be devastating. They just can't afford to keep up.

The sheer irony of having to pay to show up when someone is already searching for you by name never stops being absurd.

@Siva_Bharani I don't know what context he tweeted but I think it is unfair to generalise and say you have to get married in your 20's. We can offer advice saying try to and not have to get it done.

Considering the IPL cricket match that is scheduled at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai tomorrow on 22-3-2024 at 6.30 pm, CMRL wishes to inform that it will be operating metro trains beyond 11 pm tomorrow night till 01:00 am of 23-3-2024 to facilitate cricket fans of Chennai to return home safely after the match.

There is usually network congestion at Stadium and surrounding areas due to large crowd due to which it would be difficult to buy online ticket while being in the stadium. Also, after the match, the rush at Government Estate / Central metro stations would be very high and may result in long wait in the queues for purchase of ticket. Therefore, commuters are advised to buy their metro tickets in advance for return / round trip (to & fro) either online (CMRL mobile App, Paytm app, Phonepe app, WhatsApp, ONDC etc.) or at the ticket counters at any of the stations before going to the stadium.

In view of the heavy rush of commuters late in the night after normal operating hours, CMRL will be making arrangements at Govt. Estate Metro and Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.Ramachandran Central Metro ticketing counters for issue of only single journey tickets of flat fare Rs.50/- that can be used to to exit at any station in metro network.

CMRL wishes strives to provide safe and comfort transit facilities to in Chennai traffic.
