My brother, my problem is neither that a meeting was held nor that the said issues were discussed.

It’s in the communication, which suggests that the meeting was tone deaf to the current emergency in Mandera county.

I would have expected the brief to indicate that the meeting acknowledged the current dire situation, discussed the progress and then pivoted to strategies and programs that will mitigate future crises.

As it stands, the update by @WilliamsRuto doesn’t show care about risk of death, but rather a focus on brick, mortar and land during an ongoing drought.

Tone deaf.

Aside from that, I really wish government comms could talk about people more than it speaks about money.

Mentioning how many people are receiving daily, regular food rations; how many heads of livestock have been off-taken from farmers and saved from death; how many children are in school uninterrupted because they are being fed at school…..is much more human than speaking about how much money has been released without accounting for the impact it’s having to communities.
