WOAH 🚨 A Democrat running for US Senate in Michigan Haley Stevens is secretly paying social media influences to outright lie about living in her state, making up fake stories and telling people to vote for her

It’s all undisclosed promotions from people being paid by a political campaign. This is ILLEGAL

One of the influencers lives in California and made another account to say she lives in Michigan to influencer people to vote for Democrat Haley Stevens

Here’s the law

Michigan’s main relevant statute is the Campaign Finance Act, particularly MCL 169.247

It requires identification and disclaimers like name and address of the person paying and in many cases language that it was paid with regulated funds

This is a pretty clear violation of the law

Democrats are arguing that this does not extend to social media posts needing to be marked as paid for by the political candidate and it only applies to things like radio, television and printed material like billboards

But I think if you read the above statement it’s pretty obvious social media posts should be included, making this kind of deception illegal
