there are people who simply believe that violence is an immutable feature of our existence, but i really think a lot of the violence i have witnessed and experienced over the course of my life could have been remedied by communal intervention, and care. it’s simple.
to be clear: i support meg 110%. in a patriarchal and carceral world, this conviction is the only way her trauma is seen as valid (and even that is tentative and provisional for black folks—black women, in this case).
abolition contends with preventing harm, not merely reacting to it. the violence and structures that must be abolished are not just the prisons—it’s patriarchy and misogynoir, the judicial system, and prioritizing punishment over accountability.

Violence against women & girls is so common it's become unremarkable, when it should be outrageous. We should be *furious* that women & girls aren't safe in our own homes. That 5 of us are killed every hour by the people we should be able to trust.
Believe women. Protect women.
realizing it’s not only ok but special to hold something as sacred, something away from the eyes of others, when the culture leans towards excessive sharing
The misconception that there is no sound in space originates because most space is a ~vacuum, providing no way for sound waves to travel. A galaxy cluster has so much gas that we've picked up actual sound. Here it's amplified, and mixed with other data, to hear a black hole!
one way to really -live- is to bring up these deep emotions to awareness for healing and release
and if we aren’t living… what are we doing?
that’s why, in a world rooted in patriarchal norms and thereby overpowered by logic, is there the need to practice more compassion
🙏🏾
patriarchal norms threaten emotional intelligence by weaponizing logic against emotion
“you have no reason to feel this way”
feelings exist on a plane outside language and sometimes are bigger than can be translated in a particular moment. they ebb flow & evolve
sometimes feelings mask deeper understanding of something but it’s not until we allow the feels to flow we can uncover what it is
as we unravel deeper layers of self connection we have new things to heal, often for ourselves *and* our generational lineage
