A catch from Uganda’s legislative history ⚖️
The Magistrates Courts (Amendment) Statute No. 6 of 1990, traceable in ULII’s legislative history, marked the era of “trial by ambush,” later displaced by constitutional jurisprudence affirming pre-trial disclosure under Article 28.

Today, I met the World Bank team led by Mr. Qimiao Fan, the Division Director for Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia & Uganda and the Country Manager, Francisca Ayodeji Akala at State Lodge Nakasero. I welcome their support for the SGR and agricultural industrialization. Railways, electricity, and affordable financing are key to lowering production costs.
The World Bank are now becoming Christians, by promoting global affluence & prosperity for everyone in the world.

Terminate proceedings linked to nullified provisions of Computer Misuse law — AG Kiryowa
“The import of the orders of the Constitutional Court is that the enactment of the Computer Misuse (Amendment) Act was done without compliance with Rule 24 (now 25) of the Rules of Procedure of Parliament. The impugned provisions were thus null and void. So, all criminal proceedings emanating from the impugned provisions should be terminated,” Kiryowa said.

"Lawyers speak too much English"
"You don't understand our sector"
"Creatives don't follow organized processes"
"Law is illogical"
For as long as the #Copyright & Neighbouring Rights Act (as will be amended) is in English & subject of Ugandan Courts, it will always be reggae.
I was pleased today to join H.E. William Ruto for the groundbreaking of the Kisumu–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway. This modern project is a key pillar in the rationalisation of our transport system. By shifting bulk cargo from roads to rail and pipelines, we reduce transport costs, protect infrastructure and improve efficiency.
The President of the Republic of Uganda, @KagutaMuseveni , has arrived at Kauda Grounds in Gulu City to officiate the homecoming thanksgiving ceremony for retired Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo.
No one beats me in Court sartorial elegance. In fact I wore the Queen’s Counsel tunic ten years ago before ever dreaming of becoming SC, and when the likes of James Ochieng Oduol SC were buying shirts, bibs and sisal wigs from R J Stevens Kenyatta Avenue, Nairobi. Yesterday, I just wanted to pass a message that we can successfully resist the dress code if need be. I will continue appearing in my English white shirts, plastic white collar, and pinstriped Aristocratic suits or tunics from Stanley Ley, Fleet Street, Temple, London. James, Okinyala!
The Office of the DPP has a staffing shortage of 1,000 officers.
Agnes Kainza, Secretary to the Directorate of Public Prosecution, has decried the low staff levels, indicating that out of the approved structure of 1,700, the DPP has 700 staff and of these, 390 are prosecutors and those prosecutors are serving in 147 field stations spread out across the country and the rest of the staff are support staff.
