The leading badminton nations have depth. Multiple pairs in the top 20 and world-class sparring partners every day.
India has one.
Yet Satwik and Chirag keep conquering the biggest stages.
That's what makes this Singapore Open title so sweet
In a league of their own ๐คฏ๐ซก

A man in Surat tried to withdraw 10,000 from an ATM in 2017.
The ATM didnโt give any cash.
But the money was deducted from his account.
He complained to Bank of Baroda many times.
Emails. Written complaints. Follow-ups.
Nothing happened.
The bank said the ATM belonged to SBI, so it wasnโt their responsibility.
But the customer didnโt give up.
He went to the consumer court.
Then came a long wait.
9 years later, the court gave its decision.
The forum said:
If money is deducted in a failed ATM transaction, the bank must reverse it within 5 days.
If they donโt, they must pay โน100 per day as a penalty.
The bank failed to prove that the ATM actually dispensed the cash.
So the court ordered:
โข โน10,000 refund
โข Interest
โข โน100 per day penalty for 3,288 days
Total compensation: โน3.28 lakh
A โน10,000 problem turned into 3,28,800 compensation.

Lin Chun Yi takes it 21โ15, 22โ20.
Never easy to come back and play a final less than 24 hours after a brutal semifinal. Those matches really stay in the legs.
I remember the 2021 All England Open Badminton Championships. I had a really long quarterfinal against Akane Yamaguchi, and the very next day had to step back on court for the semifinal against Pornpawee Chochuwong. Let me tell you, itโs brutal.
Lakshya still had a phenomenal week. Beating Shi Yuqi and Li Shifeng in the same tournament says a lot about the level heโs playing at.
And Lin Chun Yiโs attack at times really reminds you of his namesake Lin Dan. Very decisive and explosive.
Tough loss, but smile Lakshya. For the general public, the All England Open Badminton Championships is often seen as the pinnacle because of its history and aura. But on the tour it is one of the four Super 1000 events we play every year, and opportunities keep coming.
With the kind of skill Lakshya has, weeks like this will keep repeating. Hopefully this momentum carries through the rest of the Super 1000s this season as well ๐ช
Did you know?
- Indian chess player Soumya Swaminathan withdrew from the Asian Team Chess Championship in Iran in 2018.
- Indian shooter Heena Sidhu withdrew from a tournament in Iran in 2016.
Reason? Wearing hijab was compulsory at tournaments in Iran. Both Indian players refused to accept the hijab imposition by Iran.

Left it all out there. Came up short in the end. Hard to swallow, really hard. But itโs about accepting it and moving forward.
