Ratatoing is a masterpiece. A film in which the passion of its main trio of character — Marcel, Carol, and beautiful Greg, who churns in a career defining performance — for cooking emulates the passion behind the scenes. A life changing piece of cinema. #TheBatmanMovie
@McFlick5150 We had a 2&C years ago that closed, but I got some cool stuff from it. Admittedly this HPB misses more than hits, but I was lucky to hit the gold this time
I came across these two at my Half Price Books a couple of days ago! They had a stacked selection of used Criterion discs, opted for these. Very excited for the Malle, incredibly curious by the Troell — these films never seem mentioned much nowadays. Has anyone seen these two?
@AxeNotZach I like ‘em too! I’d prefer if he were traded just because it seems he’s wasting his talent on a team that doesn’t want him. He wants in, they want out. Might be time to leave? Idk we shall see
@AxeNotZach You’re likely right. I just want the whole mess to be figured out so I can go on with my life. Stay with the Bucks, I’m fine with that. Move on to another team, I’m fine with that. I love the guy, don’t really like the reporting, I guess
First look at Woody Harrelson & Matthew McConaughey as Woody Harrelson & Matthew McConaughey in ‘BROTHERS’.
The series follows Woody & Matthew as their friendship is thrown into chaos when they discover that they might actually be brothers.
Releasing September 23 on Apple TV.
America is founded by ugliness that people have attempted to rewrite as poetry. Cimino, the great demystifier of filmmaking, aims to paint a film that is “myth” but also inherently fact, creating a space that is purely American. Every bit of this movie is overwhelming.
Today, I was able to revisit HEAVEN’S GATE and I don’t think any list of the greatest Westerns is complete without this. It is the greatest Western about America, in all of its poetry and vulgarity, senseless violence and vile behavior. I can’t wait to write more about it.
Having seen this twice as a teenager, this viewing as an adult is more revelatory to what Cimino was going for here and the appreciation that I already had for Cimino prior to remains completely solidified. There’s a gentleness in its images that clashes vehemently with the ugly.
