She stepped off the plane with a heart on guard,
Memories trailing her like shadows in the dark.
Where she came from, uniforms meant fear,
A siren’s wail was never near to cheer.

Back home, the law wore a crooked face,
Hands outstretched, not to help, but to take.
Voices of power drowned justice in noise,
Turning protectors into threats, silencing choice.

But Rwanda... Rwanda told a different tale,
At the gates of Kigali, where peace set sail.
No bribes whispered behind a crooked grin,
Just calm commands and professionalism within.

Eyes met hers with respect, not suspicion,
Movements marked by duty, not corruption’s ambition.
They asked for no bribe, no tips, no shame,
Just service, quiet and noble, free of blame.

And there, amid the gentle Rwandan air,
She felt something shift, a spark, a dare.
Could she, too, wear the badge with pride?
Could she serve on the honorable side?

What once was fear now bloomed with grace,
A new dream rising in a safer place.
She smiled and said, with awe in her voice:
“Give them their flowers, they’ve earned that choice.”

Not just a salute, not just praise on the screen,
But real recognition for keeping streets clean.

Tout ça ne nous rendra pas le Congo…a telling expression from Belgium. A country now leading the charge against Rwanda, with accusations of exploiting the very resources on which Belgium’s ENTIRE wealth is built. The irony is unmatched.

This is a reminder that fake outrage does not erase the facts of history. If anyone is to carry part of the blame, it is the nation that was an INTEGRAL part of creating and fueling ethnic divisions, that continues to harbor and give legitimacy to Genocide perpetrators while Antwerp Diamond District continues to thrive off of DRC diamonds.

The question must be asked, in whose interest is it to maintain the status quo, where one of the richest and largest nation in Africa is perpetually dependent on one of the smallest European nations to solve its problems through diplomatic and economic hand outs.
