Joined an FTLive panel on energy security w/ @SunKing’s Anish Thakkar & Statkraft’s Henrik Sætness, moderated by FT’s Rachel Millard. My take: security & climate goals aren’t at odds. REPowerEU+Grids Action Plan show cutting fossil imports IS the security strategy.

As of yesterday, Russian pipeline gas under existing short-term contracts is no longer allowed into the EU.
One step at a time, we are phasing out all remaining imports of Russian gas from our system.
The goal is clear: getting to zero.

Honored to attend the 20th #EUSEW2026 in Brussels!
Commissioner Dan Jørgensen brought together former EU energy commissioners to reflect on 2 decades of clean energy progress.
Clean, secure & competitive Energy Union = the only way forward.

.@KadriSimson reflects on how quickly oil markets stabilized in 2022 through coordinated action, while natural gas exposed far greater fragility due to infrastructure dependence and sudden supply disruptions.
Met with EU Energy Commissioner @DanJoergensen right before he unveiled the #EUGridsPackage and #EnergyHighways .
Upgrading energy infrastructure across the continent to lower bills and boost security. One year in office and he’s delivering remarkable results!
Thank you to @KadriSimson, who is wrapping up her term as an IGP Carnegie Distinguished Fellow.
Over the past year, Simson has collaborated with faculty from across @Columbia to advance IGP policy work, engaged with @ColumbiaSIPA students, and participated in events including the annual Columbia Global Energy Summit.
Simson simultaneously served as a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at SIPA's Center on Global Energy Policy @columbiauenergy.
Speaking at the J.P. Morgan Premier Energy Conference in Europe on a topic that will define the next chapter of our global economy: Geopolitics, Trade & Energy: Winners and Losers into 2026.

Europe just opened its first rare-earth magnet plant in Narva, Estonia 🇪🇪—a major step to cut reliance on China (which supplies 90% today). The facility aims to power 1M+ EVs & 1,000 offshore wind turbines yearly. Clean tech, made in Europe. ⚡🌍 #EnergyTransition
A new package of tough sanctions on Russia is tabled
❌ By Jan 2027: full ban on Russian LNG imports.
✅ EU is ready–demand reduced, supplies diversified, clean energy boosted.
We must hit where it hurts most: energy revenues fueling this war. Next is #REPowerEU full gas stop.
Had the pleasure of meeting two true friends of Ukraine. Deep thanks to @GeoffPyatt and @KadriSimson for their invaluable support to Ukraine’s energy sector during the most difficult years of the war. Your contribution means the world.
At the Ukraine recovery conference today - key takeaway: energy is everything. No energy = no prosperity, no recovery. Discussed current situation and next steps. The path forward requires sustained international support. 🇺🇦 #UkraineRecovery#Energy#Solidarity
As we race toward a greener future, it’s crucial that transition doesn’t leave communities or ecosystems behind. With demand for transition minerals set to quadruple by 2040, we’re working on policies that balance our climate goals with social responsibility and sustainability.
Excited to share that I’ve joined the Global Council for Responsible Transition Minerals at the Paris Peace Forum! 🌍
Looking forward to work with an incredible group of experts to shape how we manage critical resources- the green transition should benefit everyone, everywhere.
Thank you Hanns Koenig for accommodationg this spontaneous and off the record fireside chat. The provocative questions from the audience were also much appreciated. First time for me to attend
@AuroraER_Oxford Spring Forum and certainly worth it!
Today EC presented roadmap, that sets out a gradual removal of remaining Russian oil, LNG and nuclear energy from the EU markets. As we promised with RePower EU plan in 2022.
The #REPowerEU Roadmap, presented today, will pave the way to ensure the EU's full energy independency from Russia by stopping the import of
🔹 gas
🔹 oil
🔹 nuclear energy
while ensuring stable energy supplies and prices across the Union.

I participated in the panel where Trade Policy in an Increasingly Uncertain Global Economy was discussed. It was good to represent a boringly predictable Europe, explaining CBAM and what role Rus gas still plays. #GlobalEnergySummit@ColumbiaUEnergy
