fyi i only know about what happened first year because of whisper networks formed by young women and girls to protect each other and not because the university did anything to protect students living with a sexual predator

my first year of uni a student was raped by a guy who lived in my ON CAMPUS accommodation - he was neither removed from uni nor the accom
when my friend was raped uni moved her from the private accom she lived in w/ friends to on campus accom completely isolating her
its fucked

Why do colleges and universities even have a say in punishment for r@pe. This is a legal matter, not a university gets to decide matter.

institutions like universities actively protect sexual predators and it needs to change desperately

i’ve first hand witnessed universities do nothing to protect their students from sexual violence while actively punishing them for being survivors
in my friends case the isolation directly lead to her suicide, a suicide that was completely preventable otherwise
its FUCKED

@Island__Heart @WindGodVonte it really struck me how she told her daughter to “hold” his secret - the message was that someone confided in her out of a place of trust and not to abuse that trust - nothing more, nothing less…absolutely beautiful parenting

@OT1manzanita @MiaSings22 so beyond being there for her there isn’t much they themselves could do because they’re also attempting to navigate mistreatment in their own careers, sadly all the girls are fighting for lives professionally so we’ve gotta back them up 2/2

@elfrootdealer it blows my mind how people gas vgs combat like it’s mechanically on par with action games that realised alongside origins, has the depth of a puddle, all the classes have been flattened into one experience, companions are useless, and there’s no meaningful choice or progression

and i say this as someone who was enrolled in performing arts school the second i could walk and grew up with an extensive musical theatre background, performing two shows a day multiple days a week - a cast mate missing optional rehearsals is way better than one getting you sick

also all the “even if it wasn’t mandatory she should have shown up for her mission teams anyway !!” pisses me off bc you know what’s worse than missing an OPTIONAL rehearsal ?? spreading an extremely infectious airborne virus that has caused long term illness and death !! 🙃🙃

lets also acknowledge that in an interview by Weverse Magazine, lopsided bun confirmed that daily attendance at the extra practice sessions was indeed not mandatory & when Manon did miss mandatory rehearsals she had COVID

like even if i’m competing against manon for a spot in the final lineup, we’re being judged individually and i’d much rather the competition rehearse less than give me a respiratory illness that’s going to negatively impact MY singing and dancing ability ?? hello ??
