When you talk about San Antonio football, the name Roosevelt High School carries weight — and now Brennan Carroll is bringing that tradition down to the 956. Carroll was a workhorse for the Rough Riders, stacking 4,293 career rushing yards and 52 touchdowns, capped by a senior year where he rewrote the record books with 2,253 yards — the most in Texas 6A — averaging 8.28 yards per carry with 27 touchdowns. That kind of production didn’t just earn him First Team All-District honors; it stamped him as one of the elite backs in the state.
Roosevelt has a pipeline of talent — Tommy Armstrong Jr., the dual-threat QB who went on to star at Nebraska … Sam Hurd, who broke out at Northern Illinois before hitting the NFL with the Cowboys and Bears … and Calvin Williams, an NFL wideout who shined with the Eagles. Carroll steps into that same legacy, representing a program that’s known for producing grinders.
The Carroll family name is football through and through. His father, Matt Carroll, once toted the rock at Hardin-Simmons and now runs the sideline as Roosevelt’s head coach. His brother, Bryson, carved his path at New Mexico (FBS), playing Division I football before shifting into coaching. For Brennan, football isn’t just a game — it’s the family business, passed down like a recipe slow-cooked in grit.
Off the field, Brennan is more than an athlete. A National Honor Society member, he’s locked into academics, majoring in kinesiology while keeping his work ethic sharp with training, swimming, and even gaming.
Now, it’s the Valley’s turn to see what he brings. A back with vision, balance, and the toughness to take hits and keep moving, Brennan Carroll is built for long drives and big moments. Or as he puts it with that edge from San Antonio — when #6 gets the rock, it’s “no mercy, just yards.”
Down in the Valley, Carroll is more than a running back — he’s a statement of grit, family, and fire.
