@squeezew4x@MEIB0UND I'm confused. I've seen loads of very civil comments explaining the genuine history & reasons as to why this is a common opinion, however the only comment you acknowledge is just the extremely oversimplified one. Can you not comprehend more than one sentence at a time or?
@shahistt@kimianora@KhushalGurbaz Yes azizam that's because the Greeks were also around 2,500 years ago.🥴
It's the English version of the Greek-adopted name. They named the entire region Persis after encountering Parsis from the Parsa region. So Parsa › Persis › Persia.
"Just a theory" 😂😂😂
@Mahveenkhan99@KarppiJM@JMNewsNetwork_ Not many people on Twitter admit they're wrong when it's pointed out, so respect to you, sister.
I personally don't care if a non-mahram man doesn't want to shake my hand, but we need to properly think about the commandments & why we do them instead of blidnly following them.
@shahistt@kimianora@KhushalGurbaz The comparisons you gave were the native names, so irrelevant to the Persia-Iran topic, kheyli kari.
If you wanna cling to your trendy Greek name, you do you.
But just know it's people like you that feed the western association of the name of Iran with the Islamic Republic.
@Mahveenkhan99@KarppiJM@JMNewsNetwork_ 2/2 You cannot claim western culture sexualises every interaction and that yours doesn't while saying refusing a handshake is 'refusing to sexualise her', as you/Islam would have to be sexualising it to see this gesture as him "refusing to see her as a sexual object".
@Mahveenkhan99@KarppiJM@JMNewsNetwork_ 1/2 There's a flaw in your argument there.
For you to claim that he's refusing to see her as a sexual object with his refusing to shake her hand, you must see shaking hands between men & women as sexual. However you then claim that it's western culture that sexualises everything.
@shahistt@kimianora@KhushalGurbaz Those aren't comparable, you've just given the names of the countries in their native languages. Persia isn't Iran's name in Farsi, and it never has been.
Persia is a foreign name given to Iran after only encountering the Fars/Pars people, & since 1935 it's Iran internationally.
@shahistt@kimianora@KhushalGurbaz So? Why are you so desperate to call yourself an outdated name given to you historically by clueless foreigners? If you're actually Persian, cool, but if you're not, what's wrong with the name 'Iran'?
Imagine someone from Myanmar desperately claiming the colonial name 'Burma'.
@shahistt@kimianora@KhushalGurbaz Persian came from the Greek name for Fars people. Persian is the foreign word for Fars, it's not interchangeable for nationality.
It's used interchangeably by a lot of people, sure, but that doesn't make it the correct usage.
@usagi_chicawa@pearlytrivia I wasn't talking about performances, I was responding to the derogatory racial comment about the photo of her in NZ.
You're also missing the part where this post is entirely fabricated. I, too, can screenshot a video of you and caption it with whatever the fuck I want.
@SchoolP3718@usagi_chicawa@pearlytrivia I don't listen to her music and got her confused with another member of her band, my bad, but she still was there for significant developmental years of her life (age 10-15/16) so the point still kinda stands.
@Mahsa95200@AlinejadMasih Plenty of Iranians are also not fond of Pahlavi while still being against the regime. It's important to remember Iranians aren't a monolith and there people all over the political spectrum with their own individual thoughts & opinions. You're talking like we share one hive mind.
@chriscarr316@haywire_x11@TheJoeySwoll I'm all for offensive humour around happy participants, not just at random people trying to do their jobs and who can't actually really go anywhere to get away from you.
@afc_bro@NiohBerg Yes, they are.
All other religions are suppressed & followers are persecuted for being openly of that faith.
Just because you, personally, haven't heard about it doesn't mean it isn't common knowledge.
My God, you lot are so confidently retarded.
@chriscarr316@haywire_x11@TheJoeySwoll Okay, but the next person isn't necessarily going to be so thrilled about such a joke. The only reason he laughed it off is because it's a fairly non-threatening woman. Make it a burly older man and I'm sure he wouldn't be as comfortable.
@afc_bro@NiohBerg A lot of them have, that's why there are only 9,000.
And those 9,000 refuse to leave their homeland because it's their homeland. Maybe patriotism isn't something your simple mind can fathom, but it's the thing keeps a lot of Iranians fighting.
