What a fun experience last night getting to watch @LSUwbkb play and @KimMulkey coach! After the game, the team came back onto the floor to sign posters, talk with and take pics w/ fans. So many young bball fans who had there dream of meeting these star players come true!💜💛
How do you Neutralize Negativity on your Team?
Confront issues head-on.
Be Proactive.
Instill these 7 Mindsets in your Team.
1: GET TO or HAVE TO?
Negative energy often starts with a mindset. A mindset of commitment. Do you have to do this for your team? Or...Do you get to do this for your team? Address with your team. Help them understand how lucky they are to play.
2: GRATITUDE or ATTITUDE?
In similar terms, do your players have "Attitude," or do they show " Gratitude?" Bring them somewhere where they will be grateful for what they have. i.e., Go to a food shelf.
3: ENERGY GIVER or ENERGY SUCKER?
Negative Energy must be addressed. Players must know how body language and negative talk impact a team. Discuss Positive Energy often with your team. Have team leaders on the lookout for Energy Suckers. Intervene.
4: SOLUTION BASED or COMPLAINER?
Do you have complainers? Make a rule. If you are going to complain, you must come up with a solution. Create ownership. Put it on them.
5: NEGATIVE THOUGHT or SELF-TALK?
Talk about the "Secret.“ Just because you have a negative thought does not mean you have to believe it. Learn to talk to yourself instead of listening to yourself. Eliminate negativity.
6: THINKING vs. BELIEVING?
Do you think you can win, or do you believe you can win? Thinkers are not bought in. They are not committed. Thus, they bring a negative thought process. Build positive energy through belief.
7: GET BITTER or GET BETTER?
Don't like your role? Players can get bitter, or they can get better. Athletes always have a choice. They can commit to improvement and getting better, or they can complain, whine and get bitter.
