Pacific Rim is a perfect example of "Rule of Cool" imo.

I've heard people say that the Rule of Cool is that as long as something looks cool, it doesn't have to make sense—but I DISAGREE.

My interpretation of the Rule of Cool is as long as it makes ENOUGH sense, the logic of it doesn't have to be perfect.

The ship that Gypsy Danger uses as a sword for example. The second that mfer swung it back to grip it, it should have snapped in two because ships aren't designed to withstand that kind of tension. The same goes for the FOUR SWINGS THAT FOLLOW.

But it doesn't snap in two, because we know that ships nowadays are fairly sturdy, because it has a real sense of weight to it and because it looks really fucking cool.
