I am officially a graduate of the UNC-Chapel Hill! I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to stand beside such wonderful professors, researchers, staff, students, and alumni and to be able to learn so much about the world, and the humanity and nature that make it up.
I would like to give a big thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Frankenberg, Karen Willis-Amspacher, Dr. Tamlin Pavelsky, and Nikhil Kothegal for their endless support and guidance throughout this process and for overall welcoming me into their home (whether it be Down East or research).
I am excited to share that after a year of research, interviewing, and working with ArcGIS I have finished and defended my honors thesis, “Measuring the Emergence of ‘Ghost Forests’ from 1986 to 2016 and their Enviro-Cultural Impacts on the Communities of Down East, NC, USA”.
DEEPP is a collaborative effort to gauge the environmental, social and psychological damage that hurricanes and flooding inflict with the goal to help people in flood-prone areas better prepare and recover. https://t.co/t3AcarzR0n
Back to work at CPC after a summer of interviewing Eastern NC locals with @uncDEEPP listening to how hurricanes impact and disrupt their lives, community, and outlooks on their futures. Thank you to everyone for sharing their lives with us and for letting us hear your voices!
