Northwest Missouri State University student-athletes Ella Caffery and Kasidy Mohwinkle have been selected as members of the 2025 All-MIAA volleyball teams.
Caffery (Moscow, Iowa) gained second-team status, while Mohwinkle (Aplington, Iowa) captured honorable mention honors. It is the third straight season Caffery has earned all-MIAA honors. Caffery was an honorable mention choice in 2023 and 2024. It is Mohwinkle's first all-MIAA distinction.
Caffery led the Bearcats in assists (861 – 9.90 assists/set) and service aces (24) and double-doubles (16). She had a season-high 53 assists at Missouri Southern. Caffery finished her Bearcat career ranked No. 8 with 2,503 assists.
Mohwinkle topped this year's squad in kills (254), kills per set (2.99) and points (288.5). Mohwinkle had six double-doubles, which included a pair of 20-dig efforts against Central Oklahoma and Fort Hays State. She had a season-high 18 kills at Missouri Southern.

The @NWBearcatVB team will play its final two home matches of the season and honor five seniors by taking on Emporia State and No. 2-ranked Washburn.
The Bearcats (8-11 overall, 2-8 MIAA) are one game out of eighth place in the MIAA standings. The top eight teams will qualify for the 2025 MIAA Tournament set for Nov. 20-22 at Civic Arena in St. Joseph, Mo. The Bearcats have five MIAA regular season matches remaining on the schedule.
The five members of the Bearcat senior class include Ella Caffery (Moscow, Iowa), Kate Frakes (Overland Park, Kan.), Kasidy Mohwinkle (Aplington, Iowa), Maja Noehrer (Hausmannstatten, Austria) and Karsen VanScoy (Lincoln, Neb.). The quintet has helped Northwest collect 63 wins overall and 38 MIAA triumphs over the past four seasons.
Emporia State (17-4 overall, 8-2 MIAA) has won three straight matchups against Northwest. Prior to that, Northwest has won 10 consecutive matches against ESU. The Hornets have not swept a home-and-home season series from the Bearcats since the 2011 season.
The No. 2-ranked Washburn Ichabods (20-1 overall, 9-1 MIAA) have won eight matches in a row heading into this weekend's slate of matches against Missouri Western and Northwest. Bearcat head coach Amy Woerth has won eight of her last 12 matchups against Washburn head coach Chris Herron. Washburn recorded a 3-1 win over Northwest in the MIAA opener for both teams on Sept. 26 in Topeka, Kan.

A trio of members of the @NWBearcatVB program will represent USA D-2 Volleyball on a tour of Brazil this May as announced by Ron Smith of USA Sports Tours & Events.
Head coach Amy Woerth along with senior right side hitter Kasidy Mohwinkle and junior setter Ella Caffery will be a part of the Red team that will compete in Brazil from May 12 through May 21.
Woerth will be entering her 14th season as the Bearcat coach in 2025.Woerth is a two-time MIAA Coach of the Year and holds the Northwest school record for coaching wins (216). Woerth has coached all seven of Northwest's AVCA All-America performers in program history. Woerth has had 17 All-MIAA first team honorees, 16 second team honorees, two third team honorees and 22 honorable mention accolades at Northwest. In addition, 140 Northwest student-athletes have been named to the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
Caffey (Moscow, Iowa) gained honorable mention all-MIAA status in 2024. She also earned Academic All-District honors with a 3.91 GPA in business management. Caffery led the team with 813 assists (7.60 assists/set). Caffery ranked second on the squad in blocks (57). Caffery collected a career-high 58 assists in a five-set win over Missouri Western (Oct. 8). Caffery produced eight double-doubles in 2024 and 17 in her career. She had four 40-plus assist efforts in 2024.
Mohwinkle (Aplington, Iowa) ranks third on the team with 260 kills (2.43 kills/set). Mohwinkle has 13 double-figure kill efforts this season. She tied a season-high with 14 kills against Missouri Western (Oct. 8). She secured 14 kills (.300 hitting percentage) in a 3-1 win over Florida Tech (Sept. 13). Mohwinkle added 13 kills and hit .333 in a five-set win over No. 24-ranked Washburn (Sept. 27). In the season opener with Northern State (Sept. 5), Mohwinkle hit .444 with 13 kills. She has hit .300 or better in 10 matches in 2024.

The @NWBearcatVB squad recorded a 3-0 sweep of the University of Central Missouri Jennies Saturday afternoon at Bearcat Arena.
Northwest won by set scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-22. Northwest moved to 14-10 overall and 8-6 in MIAA action. UCM dropped to 9-14 overall and 5-9 in league play.
The Bearcats hit .286 with 47 kills and only 11 attack errors in the match. UCM hit .152 with 33 kills and 14 attack errors.
Kasidy Mohwinkle posted a match-high 11 kills and Abby Bulthus notched 10 kills to lead the Bearcat offense on Saturday. Natalie Laiolo secured 18 assists and Ella Caffery was credited with 17 assists as the Bearcats used a two-setter lineup in the three-set win. Kyah Luhring was credited with a match-high 20 digs.

The @NWBearcatVB team won its third match in a row with a 3-0 sweep of the Pittsburg State Gorillas Saturday at Lance Arena.
Northwest won by set scores of 26-24, 25-15 and 25-10. The Bearcats are 12-7 overall and 6-3 in MIAA play.
Kasidy Mohwinkle paced the Bearcat attack with 12 kills and she hit .375 against the PSU defense. It is her eighth double-figure kill match this season.
Ella Caffery delivered a double-double with 34 assists and 15 digs. It is her seventh double-double of the season and 16th of her career.
Northwest went 2-0 with two sweeps this weekend of Newman and PIttsburg State on the road. Northwest will travel to Missouri Western next Saturday.

VB PREVIEW ||| NORTHWEST VS. UPPER IOWA/WINONA STATE
The @NWBearcatVB team will travel to the state of Iowa to play a pair of matches at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa.
The Bearcat roster features six native Iowans that will get a chance to compete in their home state. The Bearcats will square off against Upper Iowa Friday at 6 p.m., and then against Winona State Saturday at 11 a.m. Both matches will take place in Dorman Memorial Gymnasium.
