So it is ridiculous that we live in a world where the Prime Minister of Canada needs to say this, but fuck.
Americans: we do not want to join your f**ked Union.
There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States.
Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner.
@PodSaveAmerica@TVietor08 FYI, Canada almost certainly will have an election in the spring, not October. There is almost no chance that the next PM’s Throne Speech, which must follow prorogation, will get support from the opposition parties. They’ll vote to bring the gov down.
@ChaundraG1@shashj Yeah the depressing reality with Syria is that most major players are just terrible.
Terrorists fighting a dictator who gases his own people. Bloody awful.
@TMoney1994@AlexanderGlista Only 40% would vote Conservative at the best of times. With just two parties, the left would consolidate. And, I know many conservatives who absolutely detest America’s GOP
Okay this is just absurd. Houston is currently IN government. He doesn’t need to transition from anything. There will be a glorified cabinet reshuffle at best (but I’ll bet a number of ministers will stay in post anyway)
Just a friendly reminder that today is provincial election day in Nova Scotia. If you haven't voted already please do so. Polls close at 8 pm.

And just like that, the jokes of thousands of MA/PhD dissertations about Rodger's unfinished 'naval trilogy' were blown away.
Anyway, when this is affordable on this side of the pond I'd love to see his take on this period of British naval history.

Friends in Bedford:
If I still lived in Bedford (priced out of the city) I would absolutely cast a ballot for Ryan. I’ve worked with Ryan as a teacher at Halifax West and was a union member when he served as our Union President. His compassion and dedication is sorely needed.
The Canadians recognized it: one, writing to a Nova Scotian paper, The Acadian Recorder, wrote that "a six pounder is not an army, no more is 450 men, except in our puny war..."
Today in history: in 1813, an American army, 8,000 strong, set on seizing Montreal, was soundly defeated by a British force of just 900, consisting of British regulars, Canadian militia (mainly French), and a dozen Mohawk warriors.
Many battles of the War of 1812, though pivotal, were fought by forces well-below even brigade strength, and were puny compared to what was occurring in Europe. More people fought at the Battle of Leipzig, 1813, than lived in the whole of British North America.
