@MoxiHeart@Labotical@upandoutcomic i think the film should have at least acknowledged the bad blooded history with the labrys and TERFs and transphobia. it’s an okay film that was made by people with good intentions, and it ended up blowing up and people took it wrong.
@MoxiHeart@Labotical@upandoutcomic blade is a drag queen, not trans. she even said this. i think at worst, this film is tone deaf. using controversial symbols heavily associated with a hate group is certainly a choice, but i don’t doubt their intentions. it came across as offensive to a lot of people though.
HOT take i feel like queer satire can never exist nowadays because it always has to be pristine representation and appeal to straight people
not even saying LSP is a good movie but, why does all queer media written by queer people have to be perfect, esp comedy adult animation?
@Labotical@gcrabs_@TortieToon all terfs are transphobic, it’s what terf means. nobody is telling cisgender lesbians to date transgender women, and if they don’t, then they’re transphobic. to say that terfs want to keep lesbians a wlw term insinuates trans women are not women. you ARE defending transphobia.
@Labotical@gcrabs_@TortieToon okay, being a terf does matter because actual terfs do want to genocide us and paint us as child groomers and pedophiles. the amount of times i’ve been called a groomer just because i am a trans woman is too much to count.
ok i saw the lesbian indie animated movie
was it a bit bioessentialist in a way that could've been easily fixed with a few lines of dialogue? yes
was the labrys a choice? sure
but really & truly it was just fine—it wasn't exactly high art, but ppl are acting like it's worse than cancer. like??
@gcrabs_@Labotical@TortieToon c’mon. if blade was trans, they would have made it obvious. they outright stated the transness of characters like saira’s mom and willow. if you think the movie is transphobic, then ok. i think it’s not.
@gcrabs_@Labotical@TortieToon and even then, blade didn’t actually died. at the credits, she’s alive with her head cut off. this is all misinformation. pirate the film, watch it for yourself, stop screaming over a movie you have never watched.
@gcrabs_@Labotical@TortieToon 1. blade is not trans, she’s a drag queen
2. blade was one character. there was one drag queen that died.
even if trans characters died, how is that transphobic? it’s not. stop screaming.
@RadicalPeri_@muffinezo2 did you watch the movie or are you parroting what you’re seeing online? the drag queen wasn’t even evil, she just wanted the labrys because she’s a weapon collector and that weapon is powerful. Her head gets chopped off by Willow because Blade was going to kill Saira.
@gcrabs_@Labotical@TortieToon boyfriends wasn’t even transphobic, you guys made that up. and it did, saira’s mom is a lesbian. and even then, why does that have to be the main focus?
@addetivecolor@maneshark@monoveebee i watched the movie. this is not true. blade wanted the weapon because she’s a weapon collector, and the labrys is considered the most powerful weapon in the universe. she was going to kill saira, that’s why she was decapitated.
