🇬🇷🇷🇺 The EU’s entire 21st sanctions package on Russia is stuck because one Greek shipping empire stands to lose big.

Athens is blocking a ban on transporting Russian LNG to third countries, a move that would hit George Prokopiou’s Dynagas and its fleet of specialized Arctic carriers.

Greece says those ships can’t simply be repurposed. Other EU states say everyone has had to take a financial hit to keep pressure on Moscow.

So the whole package (Russian banks, military firms, oil-price measures and all) is now frozen over one company’s business model.

Prokopiou’s other firm, Dynacom, has already made more than $915 million shipping Russian oil since the war began.

The Kremlin may be under pressure, but Greek shipping profits are being handled with care.

Chevron just took a 70% stake and operatorship in offshore Block 10 a deepwater frontier block in the southern Ionian Sea off the Greek Peloponnese.

Chevron is building something.

Add Block 10 and Chevron now controls a nearly 14,000 km² continuous deepwater exploration zone across western and southern Greece.

That's a deliberate East Mediterranean gas province strategy.

Chevron is betting billions it's where the next major gas discoveries will be.

The catch? This is frontier exploration.

No wells drilled yet.

First production, if they find anything, is post-2030.

But that's how energy security gets built. Not in weeks. In decades.
