⚔️ BLEACH MIRRORS HIGH — MY REVIEW AFTER 6 DAYS: 5/10
After 5–6 days of playing, reaching around 23,000–24,000 PvP points, and nearly completing the main story, I feel I've progressed far enough to share my first detailed impressions.
📖 STORY & NARRATIVE — 6/10
This is one of the game's strongest aspects. The story is interesting, fairly compelling, and gives this original BLEACH universe its own identity.
As I've mentioned in my videos, I personally see this storyline as a narrative bridge between the Thousand-Year Blood War and a potential Hell Arc. This is just my interpretation, but I think the concept of an original spin-off is particularly interesting.
However, considering that the story has reportedly been in development for approximately five years, I find the overall execution somewhat disappointing.
The main issue is that BLEACH MIRRORS HIGH focuses heavily on its story mode. It's one of the core pillars of the experience, which is exactly why I expected a much bigger investment in its presentation, animation, and cinematic direction.
In my opinion, Bandai Namco should have allocated more resources to developing fully animated 3D CGI cutscenes, especially for major story moments.
The goal should have been to allow players to truly experience these events, connect emotionally with the characters, and enjoy a much deeper level of immersion.
When a game makes storytelling one of its main selling points, it needs to deliver a presentation that matches those ambitions. Having a good story isn't enough if the execution doesn't allow players to fully experience it.
I understand that budgets are distributed across multiple projects, development teams, departments, and commercial activities. However, considering Bandai Namco's financial resources and the importance of the story within this game, I believe it's reasonable to expect a more ambitious production.
My criticism isn't necessarily about the writing itself, but rather the gap between the story's potential and the resources invested in bringing it to life.
It's a missed opportunity to make the experience significantly more immersive.
⚔️ GAMEPLAY: SOLID FOUNDATIONS, BUT A LACK OF DYNAMISM
The gameplay is quite unusual. It's neither a traditional 3D action game nor a conventional turn-based RPG.
Instead, it's a modern interpretation of tactical RPG mechanics, combining card-based systems, elements reminiscent of Dragon Ball Legends, and strategic gameplay.
On paper, the concept is interesting. In practice, however, combat feels far too slow and lacks dynamism.
I'm not asking BLEACH MIRRORS HIGH to become Dragon Ball Legends or BLEACH Soul Resonance. I'm judging its gameplay based on what it's actually trying to accomplish.
The real issue is that its mechanics aren't developed deeply enough to maintain long-term engagement.
New gameplay additions feel relatively limited, while several smaller mechanics have little meaningful impact on how battles are approached.
Bandai Namco generally knows how to establish solid gameplay foundations in its mobile games.
What concerns me is how much those foundations will actually evolve after launch, particularly when it comes to gameplay improvements, new mechanics, and meaningful content updates.
🔄 CONTENT: A VICIOUS CYCLE OF REPETITION
This is probably my biggest disappointment.
The game offers several activities, but many of them rely on very similar mechanics. Players repeatedly perform the same actions, with little variation between encounters.
More importantly, practically 100% of the PvE content can be completed using AUTO mode.
The problem isn't the existence of AUTO mode itself. It's a useful feature for farming.
The issue is that letting the game play itself often becomes more appealing than actively participating in combat.
On top of that, once AUTO mode is enabled, players can't properly intervene to dodge attacks or activate abilities at the right moment.
The AI makes decisions on its own, sometimes behaving inconsistently.
This creates a vicious cycle: slow gameplay, repetitive content, increased reliance on AUTO mode, and eventually a gradual loss of interest.
That's precisely why I believe real-time PvP is essential.
It would give players more opportunities to demonstrate mechanical skill, experiment with team compositions, and make meaningful decisions during battles.
💎 MONETIZATION: A RETURN TO 2016
This is another particularly concerning aspect of the game.
Its economy reminds me of older gacha games such as SAO Memory Defrag, SAO Variant Showdown, Dragon Ball Legends, and Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade.
We see restrictive summoning systems, particularly when pity progress doesn't necessarily carry over between banners.
This means players can invest significant resources into one banner without being able to preserve that progress for the next.
On top of that, farming takes an excessive amount of time.
On Aizen banner, it takes approximately three hours of gameplay to farm enough crystals or banner-specific tickets for a first multi-summon.
I'm specifically referring to crystals and tickets usable on that banner, not regular gold, silver, or bronze summoning tickets.
And this estimate concerns the initial resources available. Once the easier rewards have been collected, progression could become even more restrictive.
For F2P players, this kind of economy doesn't encourage comfortable or sustainable long-term progression.
📱 OPTIMIZATION, STAMINA & QUALITY OF LIFE
Several technical issues make the overall experience even more frustrating.
Whether playing on mobile devices or emulators, I've encountered numerous crashes, frozen screens, and technical problems that regularly interrupt gameplay.
The stamina system in story mode is also frustrating, particularly when stamina is consumed while progressing through different tiles involving events, items, or story sequences.
Certain shops and progression systems could also benefit from significant improvements.
Individually, some of these issues might seem minor.
However, when combined with repetitive content and slow gameplay, they become increasingly detrimental to the overall experience.
⭐ FINAL VERDICT: 5/10
I don't consider BLEACH MIRRORS HIGH a bad game.
It has an interesting story, its own identity, and solid gameplay foundations.
But having good foundations isn't enough to create a game that remains enjoyable over time.
My biggest criticism isn't what the game is trying to achieve, but how little it currently does with its own ideas.
Combat lacks dynamism, content becomes repetitive too quickly, monetization feels outdated, and technical issues negatively affect the experience.
What concerns me most is the game's future development.
I genuinely hope Bandai Namco won't simply focus on releasing new characters and repetitive events, but will instead make meaningful improvements to gameplay mechanics, PvE content, and overall game variety.
BLEACH MIRRORS HIGH has potential, but it still needs to prove that it can become more than just another repetitive gacha game relying heavily on the strength of its IP.
These are my impressions after six days of playing, and my opinion may naturally evolve as future updates are released.

I think you're misunderstanding my point. I never claimed that Mirrors High was canon.
What I said is that the game could serve as a narrative bridge between TYBW and the Hell Arc, especially through its original storyline and the concepts it introduces.
A narrative bridge doesn't necessarily mean that every event is part of the manga's canon.
Even Kubo mentioned that parts of the game's story are connected to the original manga storyline.
My point is about the potential narrative connections and what Kubo might be setting up for the future, not about whether Ichigo possessing the Hōgyoku or Rukia's actions are canon.
It's a theory, not a claim of confirmed continuity.
