I believe this version of salah is still there because I can't remember the last time he was given a pass like this the team does not play to his strength anymore
DO YOU THINK FIFA SHOULD CONSIDER PIQUE'S SUGGESTION?
Gerard Piqué has publicly suggested a rule change to discourage goalless (0–0) draws in football.
His idea to FIFA:
If a match ends 0–0, both teams should receive 0 points
If the match is a scoring draw (1–1, 2–2, etc.), each team would still get 1 point.
Wins would remain 3 pts.
Piqué believes that 0–0 draws often encourage overly defensive play and reduce entertainment for fans. By giving no points for a goalless draw, teams would be more motivated to attack and try to score, especially late in matches.
DO YOU AGREE?
When people talk about AFCON, it’s about the vibrancy of colours and song (understandably, because the continent has such a beautiful, diverse range of cultures and traditions), or revolves around flaws and what’s gone wrong (🙄), even largely on how it affects the Premier League…
But the quality of football and top-shelf goals deserve to take centre-stage. Africa continues to produce some of the best footballers in the world, and they put on an almighty show for their people.
The story of Ayoub El Kaabi is fascinating. Football really changes lives. Grab your 🍿
Firstly, Ayoub was a late developer who made his professional debut at about 23 in Moroccan 2nd division (Botola 2). At 15, he was still a carpenter.
He didn’t have the luxury of going to those prestigious academies, because he left school very early to hustle, that did not stop him from chasing his dream.
Ayoub kept playing amateur leagues, got scouted and signed into Moroccan division 2, ripped the league off by winning top scorer, and of course, tier 1 teams came for him. He progressed to Botola 1 with RS Berkane.
His life started to change when he was invited to play for Morocco at the CHAN tournament in 2018. Bro won top scorer and best player of that tournament. Funny enough, he still holds the record for most goals in a single CHAN tournament till date, 9 goals in 6 games.
Morocco also won the tournament 4-0 against Nigeria in the final (that Nigerian team had Dele Ajiboy(e)), Ayoub definitely scored in that final also.
Hmmm he’s 25 at this point, a team from China came for him, why not? Remember the surge China had some years ago? From 2016-2019, it was a crazy surge where Chinese teams were signing big European names like Oscar, Hulk and the likes, offering them big salaries. That was the period they came for him.
Ayoub was a late bloomer remember, he also came from serious poverty, he describes it as “modest”. There was little or no chance that he would progress to Europe to play for the biggest teams at that age, why not go to China and earn the big money so you can cater for your family? Yes, he did go for the bag…but it was short lived.
He came back to Morocco after a year to play for Wydad, and one of the reason was for more visibility. Botola is a good league and well respected, especially locally, his chances of playing for the national team also increases. By the way, he made the 2018 World Cup squad for Morocco in Russia and also played at that World Cup (against Iran and Portugal), after his exploits at CHAN.
At Wydad, he won the league for them, he won top scorer that same season also.
Hatayspor in Turkey came for his signature. Ayoub is such a child of grace. He scored 18 goals in Turkey in his first season, joint 2nd on the top scorer list with Balotelli. Even at that age, he kept blossoming, his value kept rising, this was someone who started pro football not long.
Al Sadd in Qatar brought some big bag of cash, smart guy, he took it, however he didn’t spend lots of time there before Europe came knocking.
For you to know how blessed this guy is, at 30 years of age, when he thought it would just be about the money, enjoy in the Middle East and that’s all, an European giant came for him. Yes, the Greek giants Olympiacos.
The stars aligned for him. Olympiacos were looking for a ready-made number 9, not a project, a mature player with good experience, El Kaabi was their guy.
First season at Olympiacos, he won the UEFA Conference league, top scorer in the Conference league and also Player of the tournament. This guy is so blessed. From being a carpenter to conquering Europe. A late bloomer for that matter.
He also won the Greek league, the Greek Cup, the Greek player of the season, Best foreign player of the season, listed in the Greek team of the season, and won Olympiacos player of the year, all in the 23/24 season. Just wow.
Last season (24/25), he played the Europa League and finished joint top scorer with Bruno Fernandes and Kasper Hogh.
Currently, he holds the record for the most goals for Olympiacos in European competitions.
Ladies and Gentlemen, AYOUB EL-KAABI.
@lfc_fede@LFC Is gonna let Slot kick him out like Ten Hag did CR7. Dutch managers have big egos. Yet if results in the last 30 matches do not improve and we keep the same trajectory he will still lose his job after making us lose and absolute legend in @MoSalah. This is Sad.
@liamgriffiths85@LFCVine I saw this coming the moment we lost to Preston. It is amazing how no one sees Slot destroyed his game winning tactical dynamics of the team that match and has never turned back.
One point that is correct regarding Salah is that the country's media has never recognised his qualities and has prayed for his downfall.
If Cole Palmer scores one goal, he is heralded as a genius.
If Grealish scores a goal “hes back to his best”.
Salah had an all-time Premier League season, and the media brushed it off as nothing special. It was even more telling during the Balon Dor conversations when the UK press went as far as to belittle the entire Premier League by suggesting last season's achievements were not as good as a player from Ligue 1.
@ghopcroft@MarthaAlikacem I didn't, the system broke down long ago at Preston and PSG and if the system is broken not even peak Messi/CR7 can help your team. That is why the more Slot stays the more Liverpool become like Ten Hag's United, United is still paying the price for 1 year too late to sack.
@omercayir1@asim_lfc Because Salah is nolonger inside forward but Almost in TAA's former quadrant so effectively the TAA's replacement on the field who provides chance creation from wide. Such a nosensical tactic given non of the new boys is converting anywherw near Salah when on the middle.
@luchogarcia14 The attacking tactics are very average and that is not going to get batter. Slot is not going to change anything tactically until he is sacked. Its not the players, the tactics are all wrong since Prestion Last season.
@Watch_LFC The tactical setup is crap in the attacking sense and offer volume of chances combined woth world class talent and you have good numbers but the opposition score because their attack generate a lessee xG but with big chances which are easier to convert and that is on Slot.
