@steven_metz Must be the year of planned obsolescence for warhorse Cuisinarts. Broke the safety mechanism on the bowl of an almost identically old back in January and couldn't locate a replacement.
@spaceandweather There is no such thing as a stable WiFi connection in the signal interference hell that are apartment complexes. Really sorry you're having to deal with this.
@TalkingEco And know that mentorship is (or very much should be) a core part of what being a professor is all about. Respectfully asking for help in pursuing your ambitions doesn't make you a burden at all. If that's how you're treated, then the fault isn't with you.
@TalkingEco Put faculty in a position where they aren't under pressure to do something rapidly (last-minute requests can be difficult to honor), and feel like they have the option to decline a request (helps you come across as earnest and unassuming).
@drshawna Not for nothing, but teaching this way may represent for some students the opportunity to engage with our course content in a space/atmosphere they find most conducive to learning.
@thefactualprep@ChrisMurphyCT Murphy's point is that it's not unreasonable to fear that may happen more, not less, as a result of political assassinations.
@brandsofcourage FWIW: I do my level best to put my phone on airplane mode and resist the temptation to check social media or the news. Choosing the right sort of work environment has been a huge help for me as well; I prefer few people, quiet, and a space with abundant natural light.
There is much flawed about US news media in general (and with Fox News in particular). Chris Wallace acting as a sober counterweight to punditry isn't one of them. https://t.co/XNEFVMQrKa
As a political scientist, it's surreal to be evaluated during annual University compliance training on tech transfer and University ownership of inventions. Feels like staring at the outer-most border of interdisciplinarity #AcademicChatter
