@ronmanagernottm My favourite bus trip as a 9/10 year old was the No. 1 from Loughborough to Broadmarsh, by myself. Stuffing me gob with either a pack of Toffo or a Lord Toffingham ice lolly. Followed by something from Wimpy when I got there.
Always sat upstairs, front seat above the driver.
@ronmanagernottm I live in a West-facing house close to the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border.
Whenever there's a red sky, I like to pretend Derby has been nuked.
It's the simple pleasures in life.
@ronmanagernottm The most impressive thing about that fountain is how - when standing at the junction of Friar Lane, South Parade, and Wheeler Gate - it looks like a prison wall.
@watten1@pritipatel It's Portuguese, coming from their word for quince (marmelo) and marmelada (a preserve made from quince. It was the French who started calling that marmalade, closely followed by the British. Over time, we started using other fruit but kept the name.
@karenfthompson Never knew the brand name, but my secondary school's bogs were stocked with the bloody stuff, which was enough to ensure that I never had a poo at school.
Well, after the one I did as a first year.
@ronmanagernottm One good thing about growing up in Loughborough was the school trip to the Ladybird factory to see how the books were printed.
I was given a piece of metal type while there - a letter T, if I recall. Lost the bugger in a house move decades ago, and am still annoyed.
@ronmanagernottm The first game I remember owning as a young boy in Strelley, and almost every single player had a broken neck by the time I moved to Loughborough when I was six.
Always wanted some of the diving goalkeepers.
@ronmanagernottm One of my very early memories is of taking a model helicopter my dad had built and dropping it out of my parent's bedroom window to see if it would fly.
It didn't, but the rotors span round as it fell.
To my ~3 or 4 year old mind, the crash was like something from Thunderbirds.
@GrappleClips Eaton v Hart.
Eaton v Michaels has the potential to be a dream match, but there's every chance HBK would pull some HBK shit and piss me off.
@GrappleClips Landel is one of those guys that I loathed to see, despising absolutely everything he ever did.
Pretty much the only guy to beat him in that regard is Jeff Jarrett.
Both are sorta the Anti-Arn Anderson or Bobby Eaton, who I hated in a Boo! Hiss! fashion, but loved to watch.
@ronmanagernottm Fantastic art by the great David Sutherland (1933-2023). Was still working on The Bash Street Kids until shortly before his passing. Much missed.
Hope you had a good Christmas, Ron.
