I do not work in 3D Professionally but here is what I have for #PortfolioDay
Most proud of these four because they were big and complicated things to rig, model, and texture.
@SpaceToast87 I spent thirty minutes browsing the store today and the majority of games on the PS5 store are full priced PS4 games that are multiplatform. Any game I actually liked or was interested in was available on PC for a lower price. Then factor in paying for online features...
There are a few things that I look back on as my mistakes in the early days.
Quake was overly ambitious technically. We could have done all the great multiplayer and modding work inside a Doom++ engine, allowing the designers to work with a more stable base instead of rug-pulling everything out from underneath them a couple times. The follow up game could have then brought in full 6DOF environments and characters.
I pushed everyone too hard. I didn’t appreciate how maturing companies need more slack, and that running people at startup intensity constantly will wear them out. Quake was also where I really had to accept my personal limits. I was working pretty much as hard as humanly possible, and I was still slipping past my goal points.
On all of the founders’ shoulders, our original corporate stock arrangement and buy/sell agreement was a mistake, and resulted in bad incentives. We wanted to ensure that all ownership rested in the hands of people working hard on current projects, but the Silicon Valley standard approach of vesting stock would have worked out better.
One real problem that I don’t accept the blame for is that we were insisting that level designers be not just game designers, but also have strong visual design esthetics. They needed to make things that not only played well, but looked awesome, and it got more challenging as the technology provided a richer palette. Romero covered that well, which set our company expectations early on.
We should have figured out how to pair up artists and designers earlier, but there was infighting among the designers, and the ones that could manage the visuals were happy to disparage the ones that couldn’t.
Sorry, Sandy.
@PaulTassi I know this is a Destiny post, but I made my girlfriend play Journey today. We never got another player. Very uncanny. Maybe in 14 years it will be the same for D2
@kizu_skip Example to me, I Love FF13 to death but they sucked ass in that game at conveying the setting and space. You never get the impression when walking around cocoon that its a big hollow sphere environment.
Each entry has some poorly presented ideas or concepts.
@Wrenfare Even something simple like you shoot 20 very small void bubbles at high speed instead of one big one or your strand fires out in a 360 radius.
@OLD_NEET Metaphor used practically every mechanic from persona (links, scheduling, time management) and still managed to work with more adult themes (And Consequences!).
@YorkshireReborn I have to remind myself that the forty bajillion side projects and stories they made after 7 the original, have now cross pollinated how they've chosen to remake 7. Characters with one or two lines have entire books about them. Everything becomes Trite
The only time ever in sci-fi this happened!
The Air Force praised how Stargate SG-1 portrayed the service accurately and favorably over its run.
Anderson’s on-screen promotion to brigadier general in the show even aligned with the real honorary rank he received.

@ashlee3dee By the time you become capable of creating anything you want you will probably stop wanting to. Time and effort can make you skilled, but it can be at the expense of creativity.
boss room scarlet keep strike, use a sorrow weapon and shoot the symbols around the room, starts quest. Opens the big door that boss spawns behind, little doorway to the right.
I'm persona 4 Teddie's strongest soldier. He was annoying as fuck but I mean that as a compliment. Persona 5 Morgana is annoying as fuck but I mean that as a slur
@kekisu Historical Revisionism is the persona halmark. Four and Five both added extra characters to the story after the fact. Not even considering the Arena continuity...
I waited two years to buy Metaphor because I was sure they'd try to staple more shit onto it as well.
Should I even buy persona 6. Cuz like a year or two later they’re gonna make persona 6 buttblast or something that has new content, characters and is the definitive version of the game
