Good morning everyone ❤️☕️🎅

Today is my Dads birthday.
Yet another year without him. It doesn't get any easier. I just miss him even more but I've learnt ways to try and cope and manage.

They always say "you don't know what you have got till it's gone", and it sounds so cliche but I genuinely look back now and think wow, what a man, what a Dad. He was and is my world and the reason I'm still here today.

When he was diagnosed I was adamant that the minute he left this earth that I wanted to join him, I didn't see a way moving forward without him in my life. I went into a horrible scary, dark place and didn't see any light.
He wrote me a letter to open when he died. It took me 3 months to finally open it, but I'm so glad I did. It changed my whole life, and saved me from slipping into an even darker place. I wouldn't say I was suicidal but I certainly didn't want to be around without him. But his letter made me realise I had to keep going and I needed to live on in his legacy and make him proud. I just hope if he can look down on me he's proud and happy how I'm living my life and my choices.
I often go to his grave and talk to him and just wish I could have one more day with him to see his face, hear his voice, smell his aftershave... but I know this will never happen, so I just have to remember the man he Was and how lucky we all were to have had him in our life.
I always try my best to stay positive, and be kind to others who really need that little bit of sunshine in their life.
I'm in no way an angel and to most I'm a marmite sort of person but losing him has changed me and made me truly realise what really matters in life and who matters.
Life's such a gift, It's so fragile and can be taken away in the blink of an eye. I have been struggling this week with my mindset but I just keep smiling and doing what i can to embrace every second of my life.
If you're lucky enough to still have your Dad around then give him a hug, drop him a text, go and see him, just let him know how much you care because one day you may not have the option.
Sorry to go on and on but writing down how I feel is one of the ways I cope with the big hole that's left since my dad passed away.

Have a lovely day and enjoy every moment. As I always say don't put off doing something because tomorrow isn't promised ❤️❤️
