Local elections have made it clear that UK voters have had enough. They have reached the end of their patience. The single biggest issue is, of course, immigration. But it is not just any and all immigration. It is a change in the rules of engagement that has taken place over the past few years.

I spend my time looking through government contracts. Searching through the detail, the small print, helps to see how small contractual clauses can compound into widespread problems.

In 2019, three suppliers were awarded contracts for £4.6billion for Asylum Housing. It is a staggeringly high amount.

The incentives to claim asylum here are clear and are laid out in the contracts: we will house you, we will train our staff to be kind to you and not to discriminate against you, we will give you three meals a day, and cash. We will look after you and your health needs, and we will find you permanent housing of a suitable size.

I am sure the details of these contracts are better understood by those claiming asylum than by those paying for it. One of the fundamental imbalances is that in a contract of two parties, those paying for it (taxpayers) have virtually no idea of the detail.

In many ways, it is hard not to be astonished at the degree of compassion and charity in these contracts. The great injustice is the extent to which this is taken advantage of; of the way the system is abused.  

But embedded in these contracts, there are details that need to be highlighted and challenged.

For example, there is a clause that the suppliers have to cover the higher costs for those Asylum seekers with ‘Complex Bail’ cases; this includes higher insurance costs, more staffing and the costs for more ‘robust furniture’. The costs are particularly high if the applicant has committed Arson.

There is no financial gain for Arson. It is for the purpose of destruction only. Why should the taxpayer pay to house those who commit it? Why should we pay more to house an arsonist than anyone else?

The public contracts also stipulate that when allocating accommodation, asylum seekers should be housed in an ‘area of cultural comparability’, including where others ‘speak the same language’.

The very existence of this clause creates cultural enclaves which are increasingly detached from the UK and its core values, including its language.

This is what voters are protesting against.

Why should we pay to house people who have no intention of integrating? Why do we have to have a section in the contracts on ‘complex bail’ at all?

It is not hard to understand the injustice. Please don’t commit crimes against us when we are spending so much to give you a chance at a new life.

- Soft Drinks Industry Levy

Isn’t enough to fund public schools, public services, roads, etc? They also have to apply a death tax and charge your kids on money you’ve already paid tax on? 🤡🌍
