The High Commission of India, Mauritius, in collaboration with the India Business Council (IBC), Mauritius, and other business associations, organised an interactive outreach workshop on "Indian Income Tax Framework for NRIs and Recent Tax Reforms"*and FCNR deposit scheme, followed by an interactive Q&A session on 2 July 2026.
Speaking at the event, Shri @AnuragSrivstava, High Commissioner of India, highlighted Government of India's commitment to simplifying tax laws, promoting voluntary compliance, and strengthening engagement with the Indian diaspora through such outreach initiatives.
Shri Raman Chopra, CCIT (International Taxation), New Delhi; Shri Pankaj Jindal, Joint Secretary (TPL-I), CBDT; and Ms. Kalpana Singh, CIT (Transfer Pricing), New Delhi, interacted virtually with participants on the Income-tax Act, 2025, taxation of NRIs, and tax compliance, followed by an interactive Q&A session. Presentations were also made by representatives of SBI (Mauritius) and Bank of Baroda on the FCNR deposit scheme.
The programme was coordinated and moderated by Shri Ranjan Kumar Singh, FS (Eco), High Commission of India.

💠 Experts from the Central Board of Direct Taxes highlighted key reforms aimed at enhancing ease of doing business and compliance. PwC joined as knowledge partner for an engaging discussion with industry stakeholders.
USISPF, in association with the @IndianEmbassyUS Washington, D.C., hosted an exclusive briefing on India’s Income-tax Act, 2025.
Featuring Ms. @monicabhatia2, Principal Chief Commissioner of @IncomeTaxIndia (International Taxation), the session provided foreign investors and multinational companies with insights into key tax reforms, ease of doing business initiatives, and opportunities for constructive engagement with policymakers.
🔷 As part of its taxpayer outreach initiatives, the CBDT participated in an interactive workshop on "Indian Income Tax Framework for NRIs and Recent Tax Reforms", organised by the Income Tax Overseas Unit (ITOU), High Commission of India, Mauritius, in collaboration with the India Business Council (IBC), Mauritius, and other business associations, on 2 July 2026.
🔷 The workshop was inaugurated by H.E. Shri Anurag Srivastava, High Commissioner of India to Mauritius. Shri Raman Chopra, CCIT (IT), Shri Pankaj Jindal, Joint Secretary (TPL-I), and Ms. Kalpana Singh, CIT (TP), addressed participants on the Income-tax Act, 2025, NRI taxation, and tax compliance, followed by an interactive Q&A.
🔷 Coordinated and moderated by Shri Ranjan Kumar Singh, First Secretary (ITOU), the programme reflects CBDT's continued commitment to taxpayer awareness, stakeholder engagement, and voluntary tax compliance.
The office of CCIT (International Taxation & Transfer Pricing), West Zone, Mumbai organized an outreach program on the Income-tax Act, 2025 under “PRARAMBH–2026”.
The program was organized with the theme “Bridging Borders, Building Trust”, in collaboration with GJEPC and Bharat Diamond Bourse, Mumbai.
More than 200 stakeholders, including members of GJEPC, traders of Bharat Diamond Bourse, tax practitioners, chartered accountants and representatives from trade & industry participated in the programme aimed at enhancing awareness on the new tax framework, with special focus on International Taxation & Transfer Pricing.

Chief Guest Ms. Nirupama Kotru, CCIT (International Taxation & Transfer Pricing), West Zone, Mumbai, along with Shri Mohit Jain, CCIT, highlighted that the Income-tax Act, 2025 is a simplified, progressive and taxpayer-friendly legislation focused on transparency, reduced complexity and ease of compliance.
The programme featured technical sessions on International Taxation & Transfer Pricing, a comparative overview of the old and new Income-tax Acts, and a live demonstration of “Kar Saathi”, the Department’s AI-powered taxpayer assistance chatbot. Participants actively engaged in the interactive session, raising queries on TDS, return filing, transition provisions and international taxation issues, which were comprehensively addressed by senior officers of the Department.

📈CBDT signs a record 219 Advance Pricing Agreements in FY 2025-26, the highest ever in a single FY, crossing the record of 174 APAs signed last year and bringing the cumulative total past the 1,000 number mark for the first time.
✅Total APAs signed so far: 1034
✅ The success of the APA programme has significantly contributed to the Government of India’s mission to enhance ease of doing business, particularly for multinational enterprises engaged in cross-border transactions.
🌍The APA programme, together with Safe Harbour Rules, provides tax certainty, reduces disputes, and strengthens a transparent and non-adversarial tax regime.

✅CBDT has signed a record 219 Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) in FY 2025–26, taking the total number of APAs beyond the milestone of 1000 (i.e. 1034) since inception.
✅With 84 Bilateral APAs (BAPAs), the highest ever in a single year and new milestones achieved with key treaty partners, the APA programme continues to strengthen tax certainty and improve the ease of doing business.
✅This framework is further reinforced by recent reforms in the Safe Harbour Rules, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and compliance.

CCIT (International Taxation) North Zone, Smt. Pallavi Agarwal organised a Mega Outreach Programme titled ‘Bridging Borders, Building Trust’ at New Delhi on 28th April, 2026. The outreach aimed to raise awareness among stakeholders of the provisions of the new Income-tax Act, 2025, the Income-tax Rules, 2026, and the new forms, with an emphasis on International Taxation, Transfer Pricing, and Advance Pricing Agreements.
➡️Member (Legislation), CBDT, Sh. Prasenjit Singh, in his keynote address, emphasized upon simplification, decriminalization of the Act & ongoing efforts towards trust-based, data-driven compliance.
➡️Pr.CCIT (International Taxation), Ms. Monica Bhatia highlighted certainty, consistency & credibility in tax administration. The outreach event was also graced by Pr.CCIT, Delhi, Sh. Anand Jha.
➡️Session on creating awareness regarding the new Income-tax Act, 2025 and the Income-tax Rules 2026 was conducted by Smt. Kalpana Singh, CIT (HQ) O/o Pr.CCIT (International Taxation).
➡️Over 150 stakeholders participated in the outreach which included tax professionals & practitioners, industry experts including Tax Heads of MNEs and officers of the Department. There was enthusiastic participation in the Open House discussion, and a number of inputs & suggestions were shared.
➡️Highlights included release of International Taxation brochures, demo of “Kar Sathi” platform, and technical sessions on IT, TP & APAs.
➡️The Department reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent, stable & non-adversarial tax regime.
