If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world. —C.S. Lewis
@milagracesmom My theory is the benefits of breastfeeding are pushed so hard now because they’re trying to undo nearly a century’s worth of collective attitudes against it, so the pendulum has swung widely the other direction to fight the 1900’s vilification of it.
@milagracesmom In the 80s my mom was told breastfeeding was “barbaric” and we’d move beyond that as a civilization. In the mid-1900s, women were routinely given shots to dry up their milk without even being asked. Boomers bottlefed because that was the one approved way.
@pediatricnursey 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️ Yep, my baby’s 6-day NICU stay was deemed medically unnecessary by insurance. Like, could I have just picked her up and left?! Every time the hospital refiled the claim, insurance agreed to cover one more day. Took 2 years to sort out. 🙄
@sewistwrites@amyheckman@ozymomdias Looking during totality is safe. NASA says “You can view the eclipse directly without proper eye protection only when the Moon completely obscures the Sun's bright face – during the brief and spectacular period known as totality.”
@4k2s33f @BiblicalBeauty I’ve worn a mask outside in the Spring whenever I set foot out my door since my early 20s, so I can breathe without the pollen making me bedridden for days. You need to repent of judging that young lady when you know NOTHING of her story.
@StephMac4Jesus@The_Habakkuk @davidgreen1517 It isn’t a new story (this thread, for example, was from 3 years ago), but the mom wanting to wait until her kids are no longer minors before she discussed it is understandable. https://t.co/8FYlcvYxEl
@RyanOsinski @AlsoACarpenter The Bible says he saw her from HIS roof. From a roof you can look down into any number of places. It never says she’s on a roof too. It also says she was purifying herself from her uncleanness. The OT law picked when she took a ritual bath, not Bathsheba.
@jen_mulvihill@SusanWiseBauer History helps us make sense of our current world. How are we to learn nothing under the sun is new if historians cannot share anecdotes demonstrating this? How limited our knowledge would be if we were only exposed to things historians endorsed.
@LisaKDeam I made this for my kids, but it does get hard to find things to do, especially after New Years. No lights to drive around and see or anything. It’s sad to me!
@AlanLCross I-95 split apart and isolated a thriving black community from the rest of Richmond, Va. It is still struggling today from that impact (and from redlining, of course). Mocking basic history like this is purposeful ignorance. https://t.co/iBYEc6hKfx
@gcnewsman Four years ago today, we lost my father in law in the same way. Walking through the trauma on top of the grief is a long process for a family. I am sorry for the loss of your daughter. Her smile in that picture is so beautiful.
@NotFinnishStu Frenchy: [says something that partially gives credit to the Braves]
Darling: But the Dodgers! This excuse! That excuse! Not their fault!
Rinse and repeat all series.
@ErikReed This is the first time you’ve shown up in my timeline, but this was a bit of a gut punch for me since my son is Kaleb and my sister is Kyra. I am so sorry for your loss and that your family has to navigate situations like this.
@pastoralec@micahfries What about cancer patients who routinely try experimental concoctions of drugs? Are they not wise because they simply did not reject an experiment and stay home and die without attempted medical treatment?
@pastoralec@micahfries What IS experimental is every treatment they give you at the hospital when you have covid. So are you advocating for people not to seek medical attention when seriously ill with covid, if it is not wise to take experimental medicines?
@pastoralec@micahfries Emergency use does not equal experimental. It just means the companies can produce the vaccine while testing it, and if their tests fail, they are protected financially from the failure. The vaccine still undergoes all the same clinical trials as other shots.
@MedleyTrey@JJ_Denhollander@michaelmina_lab has addressed this a lot. They are really accurate while you are contagious, symptoms or not, and knowing if you’re contagious is the most important factor in helping you keep from spreading it.
@Phileophan@Shelbie_Morgan Yes. As more was learned about the virus, they discovered the primary spread was through droplets. Masks are effective against droplets, so once the data showed that, he changed his recommendation accordingly.
@ostrachan So, you’re saying God only loves upper-middle to upper class women? Or is this your way of preparing your followers that you’re going to start tweeting in support of political positions that support livable wages so all families can live on one income?
