I’ve been thinking about a fascinating difference between Western and Eastern philosophies-and perhaps it offers a clue to some of our differences in mindset.
In much of Western thought, God made man.
In much of Eastern thought, man can discover, embody-or even create-the divine.
Before independence, the British treated us this way because they saw Indians as poor; now, post-independence, poor Indians are treated the same way by their own people in power.
