@mme_stjarne@ACPI_ You got it! Stay tuned for the release of our awesome new twig key compiled by @Environment_Al and @WrigleyCorners. This tool will allow students to identify #trees in winter - perfect for schoolyard learning. We will post it tomorrow but here is a little teaser...
So proud of my daughter and her friends for their initiative to raise money for Ray of Hope. Here is the story and radio interview from this morning.

We finished our badminton journey today. We learned that this sport originated in Pune India and was called Poona. It is also India's national sport. Ss enjoyed building their striking skills and hand-eye coordination. @JSTwrdsb #netgames#OriginsofSport#striking
We are on a journey to explore the origins of badminton. First stop, China. The first shuttlecock was used in a game called Jian Zi. Ss tried keeping the weighted shuttlecock up using any part but their hands. Next stop, India. #OriginsofSport#InspirationfromOthers @JSTwrdsb
I love this graphic. So important to remember, especially when we want to control little things like hoods when that could actually be a student in the freeze response. #teaching
@faisty1@AshleyPhysEd@thepespecialist I attached an emoji to each move when creating the videos so that the primaries could follow along. I played each dance 2 times. The first I modified the play back speed so they could see the moves more clearly.
@faisty1@AshleyPhysEd@thepespecialist It was a lot of work but the ss enjoyed it. I picked 6 different moves, made gifs, chose 6 songs that they could choose from. They chose moves and music did each one for an 8 count. Made a follow along video for the other teachers/students to use during class body breaks.
Ss have been practicing their striking skills, agility and reaction time. We will work towards playing as a team and using different implements to strike. Ss are learning that modifying the amount of force used is a good strategy.@JSTwrdsb #PhysicalLiteracy#SpikeBallLeadUp
We have been dancing our way into October. We started with a Mexican folk dance called La Raspa. It is performed by children during celebrations. All students did a great job keeping the beat and tempo. @JSTwrdsb #DanceinPE#LatinAmericanHeritageMonth
@faisty1 It was the most challenging and forced students to think about the the jump before doing it. We made the activity attainable and challenging by using a different ball size for primary vs. junior. This supported the success of this activity. #equityforall#collaboration
We explored and reflected on the many ways that the Indigenous Peoples in Canada have influenced the games/activities we use to build our physical literacy. Balance, agility, stamina and accuracy are needed. @JSTwrdsb @wrdsb#MindBodySpiritEmotion#TruthAndReconciliation
When will this be the daily norm in schools? 6000 9 & 10 yr olds ... "More efficiently organized, robust & flexible brain networks. The more #physicalactivity the more fit the brain."

This is how our family chose to spend and redefine July 1st. We walked in solidarity against genocide and in the hopes of a continued strong, steady and persistent journey towards reconciliation. #everychildmatters#NoPrideInGenocide
Starting tomorrow, #WRDSB flags will be lowered to half-mast at our schools and offices to honour the 215 Indigenous children whose remains were found at Kamloops Residential School. As an educational institution, this recent finding is most appalling. https://t.co/CitUjkrX0x
