The President of the Republic of Kenya H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, PhD, C.G.H, has officially launched the Kenya Film Classification Board's state-of-the-art Cine-Mobile Truck.

The President, launched the Cine-Mobile Truck, during the International Youth Day (IYD) Celebrations, held at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kakamega County.

Dr. Ruto lauded the KFCB for spearheading the project and reiterated his Government's commitment to creating opportunities for creatives to monetize their talent through various initiatives.

The state-of-the-art Cine-Mobile comprises a 63-square-meter LED 63- screen housed in a container and equipped with a hydraulic lift system.

The unit is self-sufficient and features a dedicated power generator and a high-capacity sound system capable of serving audiences of up to 800 people.

The #SinemaMashinani is a KFCB's flagship initiative designed to address various challenges in the film industry, particularly the inadequate facilities for content classification and the limited platforms for showcasing creative works.

The initiative focuses on identifying and nurturing talent at the grassroots level by supporting the creation, distribution, and exhibition of films whose themes promote Kenya’s culture, moral values, and national aspirations.

It also aims to create job opportunities for creatives and the youth in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Additionally, KFCB intends to leverage on #SinemaMashinani to raise awareness and advocate for the consumption of clean content through theatre and film.

The #SinemaMashinani core objectives are to streamline film regulation across the country and to create sustainable opportunities for job and wealth creation within the creative industry.

At the heart of this initiative is the Nairobi Film Centre (NFC) and the Mobile Cinema System.
