The @InfoKfcb (KFCB) Ag. CEO, Ms. @NellyMuluka, has urged stakeholders in the gaming sector to strike a balance between business interests and consumer protection in their adverts, in order to ensure the safety of minors and other vulnerable groups exposed to gaming platforms through advertising.
While speaking during a panel discussion themed โStakeholder Dialogue and Advertising โ How Much Is Enough?โ at the Gaming Tech Summit Africa held in Nairobi on June 4, 2026, Ms. Muluka acknowledged the importance of the gaming sector and the opportunities it presents, but called for collective responsibility and balance in advertising practices in line with the law.
She further stated that gaming advertising falls within the Boardโs regulatory mandate, emphasizing that the Board reviews and classifies all advertisements to ensure they are age-appropriate.
โWe also encourage parents, caregivers, and guardians to monitor the content accessed by children under their care, including gaming and gambling, and guide them accordingly,โ she added.
KFCB is a State regulatory agency mandated under the Films and Stage Plays Act, Cap 222, to regulate audio-visual content, including advertisements, in order to promote a safe and responsible audiovisual environment for children and other vulnerable audiences.

KFCB issues final warning to filmmakers as compliance deadline expires
In a public notice, the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) reminded content creators that all filming activities in Kenya require prior licensing from the Board. It also stated that films, trailers, posters and other promotional materials must be submitted for examination and classification before they can be distributed, broadcast or exhibited to the public.
