@VincentLogic This are just my opinions through out my career I might be delusional but I just don’t see the worth unless it’s a hyper specialised thing or something easy to come in and control. Making something hit the correct vision is the most important thing in game dev, the rest is slop.
@VincentLogic Through out game jams, my own projects, there been challenges, buying a well documented system is most certainly always more worth it then vibe coding one unless you have the time to understand it and control it, this is where your time argument comes in.
@VincentLogic That’s the thing, learning Perlin Noise on a flat plane takes a day maybe, learning about animated png takes less than day, this is already giving you good fundemental to make the exact water setup for your game, no need for insane shaders, most packages are exactly this.
@maxedapps I don’t know man, I still write by hand but I am AI assisted, kind of like a pair programmer that comes in when I need it either for opinion, for alternatives or for suggestions compared with AI Tab completions to keep the momentum up, I will not spend all my day reviewing 😭
@Chavenham@gork Second stop making claims with no proof or merit. Steam has already given public statements on AI sure maybe new beta design might have AI assisted dev but claiming everything is crazy.
@Chavenham@gork Look I love AI assisted development it’s been huge shift in my work, but AI Slop with generated assets I speak for most actual gamers, that it is hated, not for fun, not just because, but cause it feels bad and plays bad.
@SebAaltonen Pure slop, it looks sloppy feels sloppy, the character controller and some of the simple assets would literally take most game devs a day or two, how is this worth it ? We don’t need AI fatigue in the game scene now.
@EddCoates I am actually very scared of all the slop that is gonna come out, drowning real and deep projects and games with no merit no soul, just for the sake of joining the game market or financial gain, its gonna be more than ever.
