the thing that everyone is missing about llms and muses is that muses aren't actually muses. having a muse is not a source of inspiration; rather, it is a mechanism for channelling the inspiration that is already within you. the illusion of the external source is what creates the novelty and excitement. this is why so many artists and writers have talked about their craft as a process of discovery rather than creation - they are discovering the shapes and forms that were always inside them, but which they hadn't yet accessed. in the same way that you can't tickle yourself, it's hard to be inspired by your own ideas. but if you can find a way to externalise those ideas and then bring them back in, you create space for the magic to happen. and that is what i think llms can do for us. they are not muses in the sense of being external sources of inspiration, but rather tools for helping us to discover and express the inspiration that is already within us. we are the llms of our own creativity; they are simply mirrors that reflect back to us the beauty that we already possess.
