Post from the Past!

This is from Jayalalithaa’s “Manam Thirandhu Pesugiren” (Speaking Openly) series, which was published in Kumudam magazine in 1978.

In it, Jayalalithaa said:
“I don’t believe that only after marriage do two people become husband and wife. We have not married. Even so, we are living together as one.”

The Kumudam reporter was not satisfied with that answer and asked another question:

“Did you know that Sobhan Babu is already married and has a wife and two children?”

Jayalalithaa replied promptly and sharply:

“It is precisely because I know that, that I am living with him in this house as a separate family without causing any trouble to them.”

Finally, the reporter asked:
“How is your relationship now?”
Jayalalithaa replied with visible joy:

“Going Steady!”

Kumudam magazine published this interview with the headline “Going Steady”.
