Let me begin by saying that I understand that some pitchers are not available on certain nights. Gausman pitched last night and Bieber pitches tomorrow night, etc, etc. But whatever happened to keeping the best pitcher on the mound in the playoffs? The best pitcher available in the fourth inning tonight was Yesavage. The best pitcher available last night was Gausman. Unless they’re worn out, which they weren’t. The bottom line is it makes no sense to take a superior pitcher off of the mound for a lesser pitcher at any time in a playoff game.

Watching Euro and COPA soccer today. Why, I don’t know. But one thing that amazes me is that Donald Trump has a bullet graze the side of his face with less reaction than a soccer player that clips legs with another and falls down. This is embarrassing.

Sad news. Over my 30yrs in Jr Hockey I always enjoyed running into Glen. He always had a story to tell, advice to give, and showed a sincere interest in how I was making out. He loved the game of hockey, had a great eye for talent, but most importantly was a great guy. RIP Dirky

The New Jersey Devils organization is saddened to learn of the passing of long-time amateur scout, Glen Dirk, who recently completed his 29th season with the team. Born in Loon Lake, Sask. on July 16, 1938, he dedicated his life to scouting for more than 40 years, most of it with the Devils. “Dirky” won three Stanley Cups with New Jersey and as a young scout, famously recommended Scott Niedermayer to the Devils during his time in Kamloops.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Glen’s family and friends at this time.
