Ukraine’s National Paralympic Committee made a statement regarding discriminatory, disrespectful, and unacceptable treatment of the Ukrainian National Team and Ukrainian fans at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games.

The International Paralympic Committee not only allowed blood-stained Russian and Belarusian flags, but tries to ban Ukrainian flags and even yellow and blue colours.

We condemn in strongest terms the IPC’s utter disregard for our country and athletes. The Committee’s choice to openly side with Russia in its genocidal war against Ukraine is immoral and runs against all principles of the Olympian movement and norms of humanity.

Future generations will call their actions by their name: disgrace.

Germany has a straightforward way to close the #RussianHouse in #Berlin this year, 2026:

This year, the contract with the Russians for this propaganda center can be terminated in full, according to the terms of the agreement. They don't even have to give a reason.
Simply terminate the contract with the required notice – it's that easy!

The German government and the Foreign Office are aware of this. They just need to want to do it!

Ich bin dem Deutschen Behindertensportverband dankbar für seine klare, wertebasierte Entscheidung, nicht am Einmarsch der Nationen bei der Eröffnungsfeier der Winter-Paralympischen Spiele 2026 teilzunehmen.

Ich danke auch der Staatsministerin für Sport und Ehrenamt im Bundeskanzleramt, Christiane Schenderlein, für ihre Entscheidung, der Zeremonie fernzubleiben, sowie der Bundesregierung für ihre klare Unterstützung dieses Kurses.

Deutschland zeigt prinzipiengeleitete Führung und übernimmt Verantwortung — mit einer starken Führungsrolle im europäischen Sport.

Bereits elf Staaten und die Europäische Union haben die einzig moralisch richtige Entscheidung getroffen, die Zeremonie zu boykottieren, bei dem blutbefleckte russische und belarussische Flaggen wehen werden. Wir danken ihnen allen und rufen alle anderen auf, sich anzuschließen.

Es ist bedauerlich, dass das Internationale Paralympische Komitee entschieden hat, eine eigentlich friedensfördernde Zeremonie in eine Kriegspropagandashow für Moskau und Minsk zu verwandeln. Ein Boykott ist eine natürliche Reaktion auf einen derart beschämenden Schritt.
