Going to build something fun that I've been meaning to work on for years. I miss RuneScape a lot and I've always wanted to see someone actually bring that kind of world and economy onchain without ruining what made the game fun in the first place.

A lot of people have tried, but none of it ever really scratched the itch for me. Definitely don't want to play a osrs private server/clone.

The recent trench launches reminded me how many people in crypto grew up playing RuneScape too, so fuck it, I'm going to take a shot at it myself.

No idea how far I'll get or whether it turns into anything, but I'm building it in public and I'll post updates as I go.

CA: (TBA)

@frogmanhaha Damn. Wishing you a successful recovery man

[Kane Wins @Kane_Wins]

@cryptogle what about small project, not going to token, but interested in opportunities

Update #2: got players into the same world.

You can see each other moving around, talk in nearby chat, and see messages above each other’s heads. Emotes carry across too.

Tested it with two separate game sessions. Walk over, say something, wave, and the other player sees it happen.

Next I’m moving combat and progression onto the server, then building player trading. That’s where the gathering, crafting, drops, and economy start connecting between actual people.

Update #1: added a bunch of fun stuff. Still nowhere near a complete game, but it’s starting to feel like one.

-Added mobs and bosses with their own drop tables
-Added inventory, equipment, and currency
-Exploring items as NFTs registered onchain
-Made a good start on token emissions, sinks, and the broader economy
-Emotes are great now
-Arena + combat are functional and finally somewhat acceptable. Animations are really smooth, but I’m not comfortable putting real stakes behind fights yet
-Added two more cities: a port town and a mining town
-Added quick-travel NPCs, shops, and other NPCs selling goods/services

Overall I’m having a lot of fun with this. Finally getting to put 10,000+ hours of RuneScape, Diablo 2/3, StarCraft, PoE2, Warcraft 3, WoW, and a bunch of other games to use.

Still a lot to build.

@MoonOverlord @FitzYap I've become very wary of setting SL on big positions. Just set multiple downside alerts and monitor instead or have tooling built to execute it.

Platform SL is position info that isn't necessarily private and exchanges have internal desks

@Evan_ss6 I actually know the perfect team building in stealth for this. Super smart team of traders turned builders

@WazzCrypto sharing the tool?

@cyberpunk @playcambria Will the economy overview be public before Genesis launches?

@lex_node Did AI mostly speed up code you could already write, or let you build things you couldn’t before?

[Kane Wins @Kane_Wins]

@RNR_0 Can it let you know when Codex needs input, or do you have to check on it?

[Kane Wins @Kane_Wins]

@toly @Evan_ss6 Do you mean lending dollars or lending the underlying shares? Stock borrow rates can behave very differently.

@deltaxbt Four decimal places of precision on a false alarm 😂

@andyyy Imagine telling WallStreetBets in 2021 they’d be boosting a Vlad interview 😂

@zerohedge How much did the labor force grow? The employment gain alone doesn’t explain the higher unemployment rate.

[Kane Wins @Kane_Wins]

@zerohedge Quite a gap from Logan’s estimate yesterday that at least another 50bps is needed.

@dragonrbrn U.S. citizens remain subject to U.S. tax rules on worldwide income after moving abroad. Dubai isn’t the same tax proposition for them.

@AlgodTrading Which subnets are you comparing it with? I’d like to look at the actual revenue growth side by side.

@riskmaxxing @izebel_eth The children are going to look like that by the time they close the trade 😂
