Knight v. Fontes is the first Arizona Supreme Court opinion to interpret the provision in the Arizona Constitution that says “all elections shall be free and equal.” This article is worth the read especially if you love election law.

City and town electors may now have more flexibility to propose ballot initiatives that override city and town policy decisions as a result of the Arizona Supreme Court’s recent opinion in Roundtree v. City of Page.

The Arizona Supreme Court recently held in Roundtree v. City of Page that the circumstances under which citizens can place a local initiative measure on the ballot are very broad, so long as they propose something that may be deemed a “law.”
