CNN tried to do a sympathy piece on IDF soldiers and then like halfway through the article you find out this guy was a D9 bulldozer driver who regularly drove over people while they were alive.
@crippledscholar@2024fighter@colleen__may@cannabisbutch Yes, one day it will affect them too. And I'm not sure if disobedience to the law would happen today or play out the same way - I truly wonder about that - but folks should at least know about the San Francisco 9, etc. It's not like it's never happened. https://t.co/HXOPxBvlJI
@klc979@colleen__may@AshleyGWinter rude lol. you may be interested in this article which (just incidentally, not as the main point- but still informative) mentions d&c the outdated name is still in common use as referring to aspiration procedures these days https://t.co/xLOywlq20N
@aBigMess Yes, yes! This article (from 2022) is one of the few I've seen that acknowledges D&C is an outdated term still in common use. And, a thing I'd surmised but not heard aloud- that 'surgical' abortion is "more commonly known in the fertility world as a D&C" https://t.co/xLOywlq20N
@EdwardIV63 @JessicaValenti@joelcardwellX Shut up and just listen, you know? All those things are related. People can't afford housing or food, families lose their kids to violence, we don't have confidence in a safe future - and our own choices on having children, raising a family are taken from us- How shall we live??
@laurawershler@JessicaValenti Yes you would expect! I'm amazed that the only physician voice elevated by Georgia's paper of record @ajc was that of a totally anti-abortion physician, saying the same things as the anti-abortion governor who pushed the six-week ban and is now defending himself/deflecting blame.
@JessicaValenti Do you think the medical associations are doing enough to push back against these laws and defend their members? I’d expect to see ACOG or AMA spokespeople talking in the press everyday about the restraints these anti-abortion laws & restrictions have put on doctors.
There’s a lot to get angry about these days, but I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this furious.
Watching the anti-abortion movement blame pro-choicers for the deaths of Candi Miller and Amber Nicole Thurman is just mind-blowing.
@colleen__may As someone who works in healthcare administration, the fact that the *administration* didn't tell practitioners to take care of their patients because THEY would help protect them is also such a huge failure imo. The GA woman went to a hospital. Hospitals have lawyers.
@TruthAgape@DPBogle@maryfiorito I believe you’re mistaken on this. For sure with mifepristone, as an FDA-approved drug there’s an “adverse event reporting system” for reporting all post-medication incidents, even ones not caused by the med. For ex, this data is in the article that reported the case:
Just to be clear: Amber Thurman's death was not a tragic mistake. It is the logical outcome of the Georgia abortion ban working exactly as intended by horifically punishing women who try to access abortion care.
4 in 5 GA voters say govt shouldn’t stand in the way of abortion access! But we get abortion bans + debates of “🤔 which deserving few may be exempt?” Fact is, moms in mortal danger, SA survivors, etc etc- can only fully access care when EVERYONE can. Unrestrict abortion for all.
This, but not just GOP! Pols & neighbors in every party: an abortion ban’s “exceptions” rarely even help the few they claim to. They do nothing to lessen the barriers created by the ban itself; they put up more hurdles to jump; the hardest-hit will again be hardest-hit.
