At a press conference defending yet another deadly federal enforcement action, Greg Bovino doubled down on spin over accountability — proving once again that when it comes to immigration shootings in Minneapolis, the message isn’t truth, it’s deflection.

Asked why law enforcement agents involved in a controversial shooting — including the murderers of both Renee Good and Alex Pretti — are back at work instead of under scrutiny, Bovino’s answer was telling: the agents weren’t sent home for investigation but simply moved out of Minneapolis “for their safety.” No suspension. No leave. Just relocation—and no real accountability.

When pressed on the number of shots fired and who fired them, Bovino waved off specifics, promising only that “that is going to come out in the investigation.” But that investigation has been undermined from the start: the Department of Justice has refused to open civil rights probes into the death of these innocent American citizens, and state and local authorities have accused federal agents of blocking access to evidence.

Then came the real pivot — and the real bait-and-switch.

Instead of acknowledging legitimate outrage over federal agents killing American citizens, Bovino scolded critics for “calling law enforcement names like Gestapo or using the term kidnapping.” He claimed that listening to “a politician, a so-called journalist, a community leader” who “spouted that type of vilification” was a choice — and that choices, of course, have “consequences.” In other words: if you don’t fall for the official narrative, you’re to blame for the backlash, including the potential for winding up in the morgue after being murdered by Trump’s storm troopers.

That’s not accountability. That’s blame the public PR, with a menacing side of intimidation.
Never mind that video and reporting—including independent evidence and citizen footage—contradict federal claims about how both Pretti’s and Good’s shootings unfolded, and never mind that protests across Minnesota and nationwide have peacefully demanded transparency and justice.

Here’s the pattern: federal agents kill or injure citizens, leadership refuses to investigate, and officials like Bovino shift blame to communities who dare to question authority. It’s a classic dodge: When bullets speak, bureaucrats shout excuses.

But you can’t spin away the truth forever — especially when the public has seen the videos with their own eyes.
