JACOB: “That isn’t Christian love. That’s a bastardization of it. Christian love is disciplining your children when they do something wrong.”

“True Christian love holds both in tension. There are real boundaries, and there is also grace. What society calls empathy has a veneer of something good. A half truth is a whole lie, and it brings death.”

“When I think about it, I visualize a comic strip: all these foreign-looking people are being rounded up and deported by soldiers. A guy watching says, ‘Wait a minute-I thought we were only denaturalizing people who aren’t committed to our ideas.’ The other guy replies, ‘We are.’”

“People say, ‘You shouldn’t deport someone just because they’re from India. You should deport them if they’re insufficiently committed to our values.’ That is my point: they’re insufficiently committed to our values.”
