It was belatedly revealed that actress Han Sohee gave laptops to all 43 students in the Department of Theater and Film at Seoul Institute of the Arts.
According to martial arts director Kim Minsoo on the 29th, Han Sohee conducted a one-week action special lecture last July for students in the Department of Theater and Film at Seoul Institute of the Arts.
Han Sohee built a connection with Director Kim Minsoo through the drama My Name (2021), and later became close as she often visited the action school he runs. When Director Kim asked her to teach acting to students taking a class linked to Seoul Action School and Seoul Institute of the Arts, Han Sohee willingly accepted.
Director Kim told Ilgan Sports, “Originally, she was only supposed to teach for one day, but Han Sohee voluntarily trained the students four hours a day.” He continued, “Not only did she teach action movements, but she also taught facial expressions and emotional acting in detail, which are necessary as an actor.”
Han Sohee, who was called “Team Leader” during the special lecture and got along closely and comfortably with the students, gave laptops as a surprise gift out of her own pocket to all 43 students on the last day of class. Behind the gift of laptops was Han Sohee’s warm consideration.
Director Kim said, “I heard that during class, she saw a student who couldn’t repair or replace a broken phone, and she felt sorry and it hurt her heart. Since they’re students, I told her that many of them weren’t in a good financial situation. She thought about what kind of help she could give and said, ‘I hope this will help with their studies,’ and prepared laptops.”
Director Kim said the students were deeply moved and still haven’t forgotten their gratitude. He said, “Han Sohee prepared laptops worth about 50 million won. I’ve never seen anyone give students a gift at their own expense like that while running the action school.”
This good deed became known belatedly because Han Sohee had asked the students at the time not to share it publicly. Even so, Director Kim said, “Regardless of the amount, a good deed should be widely known,” and explained why he chose to talk about it.
Director Kim said, “On the day of the students’ completion ceremony, Han Sohee even came after getting makeup done and personally handed out the certificates. I heard that even after the special class ended, she created a group chat to communicate with the students. She tried to leave them with good memories.”
Director Kim, who said, “On the outside, Han Sohee may seem cold, but in reality, she has an easygoing personality and is loyal,” recalled the time he first met her during My Name. He said, “To be honest, when I first met Sohee, she had no experience in sports and her body was weak, so I was really worried.” He added, “But she came to the action school every day, trained intensely, and at some point, she had grown. She has natural ability, but above all, she puts in endless effort.”
