@metcoalition When you've lived long enough to know that the American diet has changed drastically since the 1970s paralleling the decline in health of our nation you know that things have got to change.
At the Coalition for Metabolic Health, we're working to address America's chronic disease crisis. Learn more about our mission to make metabolic health mainstream—and hear directly from some of our experts—in our new video:
Dr. Lori Calabrese discusses how ketones can revolutionize health by enhancing mitochondrial function. Nothing else in psychiatric care does this quite like it! Watch the full interview for groundbreaking insights. 🎥🧠 #PsychiatricCare

Mitochondria increase their activity level when we are having positive life experiences, according to recent research from @CarolineTrumpff & @MitoPsychoBio.

The Maryland Health Secretary has halted an ongoing, privately-funded, inpatient study of a medical ketogenic diet for treating schizophrenia for no clear reason.
People with schizophrenia deserve better treatments.

@Metabolic_Mind Can't wait for this tool! It will improve the use of low-carb and keto therapies by providing instant feedback and allow for modification of diet/lifestyle to get the best benefits.
"Treatment-resistant: These two words should never be used together for mental illness or any illness, because it puts the blame on the patient & on the family. And Matt did not fail treatment, treatment failed Matt. They weren't the right treatments." -@janellison
🚨Lean Mass Hyper-Responder #LMHR Overview 🚨
The discussion around LMHR is increasing. That’s good. I wanted to take a moment compile potentially useful links and references. What follows:
👉Review of terms (#LMHR and #LEM)
👉Videos covering the Lipid Energy Model and phenomenon related to #LMHR.
👉10 references to peer-reviewed publications
#LMHR: A phenotype defined by LDL-C ≥ 200 mg/dl, HDL-C ≥ 80 mg/dl, TG ≤ 70 mg/dl.
NOTE: There is no threshold for BMI or body fat. “Lean” refers to the association between this lipid triad and being leaner (see video 4 and ref 4 in list below). More specifically, the LEANER one is on a very low-carb diet, the HIGHER LDL-C tends to be, as part of a high LDL-C, high HDL-C, low TG pattern that constitutes a metabolic fingerprint, of sorts. This appears to be a dose-response relationship.
#LEM Lipid Energy Model is the mode that explains the LMHR phenotype and related phenomenon. It is not “proven,” but has been effective in making accurate bold predictions.
