A lot of gay people are better off than straight ones due to fewer family-related commitments aka the power of the 'Pink Pound'
Feel free to have your festivals. Just don't expect struggling local authorities to pay for it when most are horrifically in debt
They have to afford public services - not parties.
As for the flags - LGBT is not a religion. I am sure you'll manage just fine without rainbow standards on public buildings. But feel free to festoon your private property or businesses should you wish
Otherwise - be free, be happy!
No need to be so blimmin' precious at a time when the economy is tanking and taxpayers' money is needed elsewhere
If this 👇happens, Keir will find he has to cut benefits regardless of what his backbenchers think. Burnham will find his VAT cut for pubs is verboten.
Instead we will face “austerity” cuts on a scale that makes Osborne’s attempts pale into insignificance AND painful tax rises.
Just to appease the International Monetary Fund in order to reassure lenders - who, with nearly 100% debt to GDP ratio, we need.
Labour’s economic illiteracy got us here.
Now Labour needs to face reality and cut government spending, before it’s all decided by foreign money over whom we have no democratic control.
This is deeply troubling. I hope my union - @fbunational - will explain to fire service bosses that firefighters must be free to express their political views without fear of sanction by their employer. @manchesterfire has seriously overstepped the mark here.
The public would be stunned if they knew the police have become an identity politics cult.
True believers only.
Officers with common sense who want to catch bad people are not promoted or driven out.
We need a new police to protect decent people like Henry Nowak.
Pakistani Muslim nonces a girl, gets two years.
21 year old British kid angry that police helped kill a British kid throws a traffic cone, it hits nobody, gets 3-5 years.
But remember, there's no two-tier policing.
If my son was murdered and the police watched over him, mocking him, whilst he bled to death I would have agreed to release the footage too. I would do so knowing, hoping, that everyone would be so shocked and disgusted that it would bring about change. I would welcome comments about the state of policing, which is why I would include them in my statement outside of the court, especially from leading political figures throughout the globe.
I think we all know why the footage is in the public domain and it’s not to encourage silence and inaction.
The family wanted us to see what happened to their dear boy.
If you think 18,000 supermarket job losses is bad, you aren’t paying attention
Since Labour came to power in 2024
▪️400,000 payroll jobs have gone
▪️155,000 fewer jobs vacant
▪️163,000 jobs to be lost in 2026
▪️1.7 MILLION now unemployed
▪️8.3 MILLION on UC
And rising 🔥
Oh look here’s a Labour MP spreading misinformation that Nigel Farage is a “danger to democracy”
Er … and then says misinformation needs to stop. She should start with herself.
Smearing political opponents as a danger to democracy is the actual danger to democracy 💣
Rachel Reeves has put taxes *up*, and ended up actually raising *less* money.
How has she managed that?!
It turns out that when you punish people for taking risks, hiring people, or working hard, they're less likely to do those things. Who could have guessed?
This is the wonderful @AllisonPearson in conversation with Dr @KiszelyPhilip of the @NewCultureForum at their Literary Festival of Free Speech.
Allison is talking about grooming gangs. Her incisive analysis is fantastic 👏
BTW the camera 📷 quickly gets into focus.
🚨(1)BREAKING: Christian community police officer wins settlement after being forced out of his role for questioning and criticising Islam during diversity training.
Luke Salmons, who has been supported by the Christian Legal Centre, was suspended for six months, forced to resign and put on a police barring list after he had questioned radical Islam in a training session.
He had been told that the session was a 'safe place' for discussion, but after expressing his beliefs, the consequences were devastating.
After taking legal action, his case has now been settled on confidential terms, however his story raises serious concerns about free speech and religious freedom in UK policing.

Green Party @MothinAli said on X "So proud of Sarah for calling out the reform candidate for Makerfield for his abusive misogynistic attitude!"
Ali and his wife, wearing a full veil. Backward misogynist savage.
You are without a doubt the most hypocritical opportunist with absolutely no consistency, no backbone, and no morals @Keir_Starmer
You will exploit or ignore any tragedy- your reaction is completely dependent on what benefits you politically with no thought of what’s best for the uk
The worst possible leader at the worst possible time
This exchange is so revealing. Kenyon points out the obvious - that the more people that enter a country, the more houses that country will need. But upon hearing the argument that immigration puts pressure on the housing supply, the Green candidate immediately defaults to her "I'm shocked and horrified you could ever say such a thing!" mode. The funny thing is, she ends up agreeing with him, but even then she tries to pretend he has said something appalling. This is what happens when politics is rooted in feelings rather than facts.
I think Nigel Farage has every right to say what he said. If not now, when? He represents millions of people…
Oh and a l little dig at @portsmouthnews who sacked me for stating we live in a two tier society 4 years ago. I think I’m fully vindicated, don’t you?
The Novak family made clear that the police got things wrong, and spelled out how with infinite dignity.
Police double-standards are an entirely legitimate subject for public debate.
As someone who 'took the knee' for the discredited BLM movement (which sought to abolish prisons and defund law enforcement) you are in no position to criticise anyone for politicising a death in police custody.
As a politician struggling to hold onto office you are entitled to play every card at your disposal.
But this is amoral and grotesque.
