Managing an OTC swap over its lifecycle requires multiple systems and ongoing reconciliation between counterparties.
Derivnex closed the first OTC swap on Canton, a total return swap between @DRWTrading and @MarexGlobal referencing an index @KaikoData tokenized on the network.
On Saturday, Canton MainNet swapped its ordering consensus engine.
800+ nodes moved to Canton BFT, a multi-leader, parallel-ordering protocol, with almost no downtime.
Nobody noticed. That’s the point.
The upgrade mechanism itself is now proven: deep protocol changes on a live, decentralized network, while it keeps running. And Canton BFT is the foundation for much higher throughput.
Canton Network swapped its engine while the network kept running
@CantonNetwork moved its MainNet to Canton BFT on Saturday, a new transaction-ordering system. More than 800 nodes made the switch with almost no downtime.
Several validators can now order blocks at once, replacing a one-leader setup. Builder @digitalasset expects that to open a path to 2,500+ transactions per second.
We do a terrible job of not talking about shit like that. We upgraded the entire consensus mechanism of @CantonNetwork and nobody noticed. That shows how ready we are for real markets on-chain versus others, but we need to showcase this much more.
Very proud of our technical teams.

Linus Torvalds used AI to help uncover Linux kernel bugs that had been hiding since 2013.
It started when developer Nils Ollrogge reported a bug and submitted a fix.
Linus found the code too obscure to follow, so he used LLM tools to understand it and split larger functions into smaller, more readable ones.
Testing then confirmed the reported bug and uncovered three more, all dating back to the library’s first commit in 2013.
The changes haven’t been merged into the mainline kernel yet.
Linus wasn’t asking AI to replace his judgment. He used it to make difficult code easier to understand, then tested the result.
