My father sat for the Civil Services prelims. Not sure of the exact year, so I'm not mentioning it here. That year, the paper leaked. The exam was cancelled and held again months later.

He married soon after. Then came a family to raise, and he never attempted it again. He spent his working life at All India Radio, an honest officer, the kind who never took a shortcut and never had one taken for him either.

But he still carried that failed opportunity with him till his end days.

In India, an exam is not an exam. It becomes your identity, your parents’ pride, the answer to what you did with your twenties. Losing that to someone else’s greed is not a setback. It’s a permanent mark you carry with you for generations

The corruption in the system is decades old. Parties changed. It didn’t.

That’s precisely the point.

If it happened under Congress, that is not a defence for it happening now. That is exactly what we voted to end.

I agree Ministers can’t be held by the collar every time. But those of us who support the government have the standing to ask for something: a fair examination system, a fair education system and the Prime Minister’s own voice on it.

PM has spoken to us at 8pm when the country needed to hear him. I think it's high time to address the nation at 8 again. Because these students need an assurance more than ever
