I usually don’t comment on Pakistani politics. I disagree with IK on many political issues. But this is not about politics- it’s about my children’s father, his human rights & international law. For the past few years, I’ve been bullied & harassed into silence by PML-N goons, including rape threats & countless conspiracy theories. Meanwhile Twitter/ X is banned in Pakistan, PTI party members & civilian supporters have been abducted, anyone with a platform who was speaking out is now in jail & silenced, Imran Khan’s photo and name have been censored on state television (they have even redacted his image from any coverage of Pakistan’s World Cup win of 92!)
I owe it to my children to try to create some awareness about what is happening in Pakistan. Please help in any way that you can. Thank you.

In the last few weeks there have been serious and concerning developments regarding my sons’ father, Imran Khan’s treatment in prison. The Pakistan authorities have stopped all visits to him by his family and his lawyers. They have also postponed all court hearings. In addition to cutting off in- person visits, and in defiance of a court order, his weekly calls to his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, who are British and who live in London, were stopped on 10th September. We have received reports that the authorities have now turned off the lights and electricity in his cell and he is no longer allowed to leave his cell at any time. The jail cook has been sent on leave. He is now completely isolated, in solitary confinement, literally in the dark, with no contact with the outside world. His lawyers are concerned about his safety and well-being.

These actions come in the context of ongoing targeting of Imran’s family, as well as his party (PTI) members and supporters in an attempt to silence them and all political opposition in Pakistan. Imran’s nephew, Hassan Niazi, a civilian, has been detained in military custody since August 2023. More recently, Imran Khan’s sisters, Uzma and Aleema Khan, who have continued to speak out on his behalf, have also been arrested as they made their way peacefully to a demonstration and they are currently being held in jail, despite there being no proper or lawful basis for their imprisonment.

In June this year the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found that Imran is unlawfully and arbitrarily detained and called for his immediate release.

 As a matter of urgency , we are calling for Imran Khan’s release, and for the release of his sisters and nephew as well as for his sons’ contact with their father to be re-established, so that they may have assurance first-hand that he is well and not being mistreated.

ایک زمانے میں زیادہ تر لوگ ٹی وی دیکھا کرتے تھے اور اس وقت ایک جھوٹا بیانیہ بنایا گیا کہ پی ٹی آئی کی شوشل میڈیا ٹیم پیڈ ہے اورصرف ٹرول کرتی ہے- پھر ہوا رجیم ��ینج اور سب کو پتہ چل گیا ٹی وی چینلز کی اصلیت کا اور لوگ اپنی خبریں سوشل میڈیا سے لینے لگے۔ اس دوران سب کو اندازہ ہوا کے پی ٹی آئی کی سوشل میڈیا ٹیم دنیا کی سب سے زیادہ innovative ڈیجیٹل ٹیم ہے جو اپنے ملک سے اتنا پیار کرتی ہے کہ اپنی نوکری، کاروبار، پڑھائی اور فیملی ٹائم قربان کر کے عمران خان اور پاکستانی عوام کی عکاسی کرتی ہے اور ان کو بدلے میں کوئی عہدہ نہیں چاہیے ، صرف ایک آزاد اور بہتر پاکستان چاہیے تاکہ وہ دنیا میں سر اٹھا کر جییں!

سسٹم نے سب کچھ قابو پا لیا مگر اس سوشل میڈیا کی طاقت کے آگے ہار گیا- بدترین فسطائیت اور بلا چھیننے کے باوجود ۸ فروری کو نا صرف ووٹرز کو موبیلائز کیا سوشل میڈیا نے بلکہ پورے پاکستان میں امیدواروں کے انتخابی نشان بھی یاد کروا دیے! اسی طاقت کو کم کرنے کے لیے مہرے استعمال کر رہے ہیں اب۔ نتیجہ وہی ہوگا جو ۸ فروری کو ہوا تھا، کیونکہ یہ ۹۰ کی دہائی نہیں ہے۔ لوگ بہت باشعور ہیں اور دنیا کے ہر کونے میں پی ٹی آئی کے جو سوشل میڈیا والنٹئیرز ہیں وہ عمران خان اور پاکستان کے لئے ہر ممکن کوشش کرتے رہیں گے۔

آپ سب اس جدوجہد کے ہیرو ہیں اور اس وڈیو میں پوری دنیا کے اخبارات اور ویب پورٹلز نے اعتراف کیا ہے اور وہ جھوٹا ٹرول والا بیانیہ ہمیشہ کے لیے دفنا دیا ہے۔ اب دنیا ہم سب کو اے آئی وڈیو ، فیس بک باٹ اور سسٹم کی censorship کو توڑنے کے experts کے تور پر جانتی ہے۔ اگلے کئی سالوں تک ایک case study ہوگا پی ٹی آئی سوشل میڈیا۔ یہ سب آپ کے آئڈیاز تھے۔ میر�� تمام سوشل میڈیا کے ٹائیگرز اور ٹائیگریسس کو سلام ہے۔ شکریہ!
