You can travel internally by a combination of Rickshaw, E rickshaw, local bikers. Mostly local bikers closer to Sangam but they are reasonable and take you anywhere between Rs 50 to 150 per head.

Ya I know, you’ll be wondering what is that Iam asking. Let me explain this In a little detail.

I bought a house in 2002, a small family apartment of 935 sq.ft. Had a “ Grahapravesam” attended by 150+ friends and family members. Fast forward two decades later, I’ve a larger house, more furniture and lot of space but nobody to visit. Yes, it isn’t the truth with me alone but with most of us. During Diwali, the tradition was to visit friends and families and distribute sweets. Gone out of vogue. Gate crashing into a cousins house, surprising a friend with a sudden visit, jumping into that fav uncle / aunt’s house for a quick snack was all a part of growing up, but alas none exist now.

All that we get during festivals are digital messages randomly sent to everyone, mostly CNTRL C, CNTRL V, FWD. I even tried sending a forward with the text written “ I actually don’t care how you spend your Diwali “ in font size 4 with a Large and bold caption Happy Diwali and instantly I got a reply, an EMOJI thanking me. Proved my clear doubt, people don’t read a line of what you send.

I have a large sofa, a fairly large drawing room with nobody to welcome. Such is the fate that 36 months ago when I lost my brother, I got 200 RIP messages and 2 friends who asked if I need something as help. Nowadays nobody has time even to visit people when they lose their near and dear, a few champions turn up to the grave directly. We are in an age and era where we have to take appointments to go to friends house, cousins house. Most get together planned for 20 people are attended by 10 or less. Last minute cancellation seems to be normal behaviour. If I suddenly today visited my Relatives home, I would be suspected to have landed up there with some ulterior motive. These days even thieves don’t come home, they are looting digitally and finding out digitally what’s the correct time to loot( thanks to FB, INSTA ETC., ) Times have changed so much that I’ve a few suggestions to make :-

Architects :-

Please build homes for only the family members, with a clear understanding that nobody will turn up. Living room can henceforth be called as Texting room. Home itself can be called as SLEEP STATION ( Breakfast & Dinner Included ). Parents and family members can be called as Co-livers. Pls don’t construct Guest Bedroom ever or ask your client when was the last time that was used by any Guest.

Thieves

Pls come home, you’re my only hope to have a visitor. Iam ok for a loot as long as you stay for a few hours and give me company. You don’t need an appointment and like everyone else you also don’t cheat me by visiting when Iam away.

The Bank

Don’t call it Home loan, Call it
“ Home Alone”

I don’t know if they will default on the mortgages but surely most of them have defaulted on living a life by just being Alive.

Friends and Relatives

Iam ok to host you with a Welcome Drink, Menu Card and even organise a pick up and drop as long as you’re able to spare time for this visit to my home. Netflix and Chill is also ok as long as you don’t make a Zoom Visit.

My mother at home is 76 years and she fondly remembers all those who she spent her time with and many of them still ask me once in a while how is Ma, but alas nobody even once calls her to say, How are you Aunty. I just wish atleast for her a thief comes home and Iam dead sure she will engage and converse with him atleast for a few minutes, therefore

Pls come home and Steal my time.
